Benelli MR1 Opinions?

I know it's been answered on the matter of the different calibers (5.56mm for the MR1 vs pistol calibers for Cx4/Rx4), but on the matter of the looks there's at least three different configurations of the stock on MR1: "Comfortech" stock, straight stock with a pistol grip and the telescopic stock with pistol grip:

Yup, that's the style of rifle that makes me want to own the MR1 all over again.

Oops, I did a mistake there: it's the Mx4 that's the military version of the Cx4 carbine, and the Rx4 is the military version of the MR1 rifle. I'll edit my original post, sorry about the confusion.

I just pulled the barrel/gas system off like during a cleaning and brought it over to Leigh at Dlask et voila! I haven't noticed any change in accuracy after the cut but with either the Dlask flash hider or the A2 birdcage off my CQA, the muzzle flash is greatly reduced.

I have an NC star universal barrel laser on it. The last time I shot it the laser died so I'll replace it with another laser until I can get a black infrared laser PEQ which I'll mount at 6 o'clock.

I'm more of a function over form gun guy so the mods I've done have been to make it work better for me and my needs. It's a great take it with you carbine.

Thanks. That's definitely the route I'm going to go. I think the shorter barrel & FH/brake really enhances the look.

I have an MR1 with the original sloping stock with the pistol grip.
Love the rifle. Hate the stock. Just not right for me.
I'd be willing to buy /trade Comfortech stock from anyone who wants to swap it out.

Think I'll probably go for the telescoping stock, handled one today, was very comfortable and compact at the half-extended position.
I like the muzzle devices I'm seeing here too, I'll probably get the barrel threaded at some point.

I have the fixed buttstock version that I got used. After I put through a few hundred rounds, I was having light primer strikes. I thought the firing pin was broken but it just needed a cleaning, afterwards it worked fine. The bolt is actually easy to take apart like an ar bolt.

I prefer adjustable stocks on my "social" long guns. If I wear plates the MR-1 shoulders nicely in a square stance with the stock adjusted to one notch from shortest. Without plates 2 or even three depending on clothing.

MR1 is now on layaway for me :D
Have to pull some 60-hour work weeks so I can take her home soon.

Thanks to everyone here for the advice, you've made the decision-making much easier.

Hello all.

I'm trying to think of what to save up for over the summer, as work allows me to get one firearm per year at cost (I'm working at a LGS). I've wanted to get a good-quality .223/5.56 rifle for some time, and this might be the time to do it, if I can set aside enough cash.

The Ruger Mini-14's are cool, but the proprietary magazine is a deal-breaker for me. Bullpups like the Tavor and T-97 don't really fit me well ergonomically. I'll get an AR-15 some day, but I want a non-restricted rifle to start off with. The MR1 feels pretty comfortable when shouldering it, and I've had good experiences with Benelli stuff so far.

What kind of experiences have you guys had with your MR1's?

My main concerns would be durability, reliability, accuracy, and how finicky they are with mags/ammo.
Ability to mount optics is also a concern. Are the iron sights on this rifle removable?

Feel free to post pictures of your rigs if you have some.

Thanks
It's an okay gun. On the plus side, it's reliable, well made (as you'd expect from Benelli). The negatives are poor ergonomics, ugly appearance and awkward disassembly procedure.
