Hello all,

I've recently purchased a Benelli MR1 (absolutely in love with it) and I want to buy the Tri-rail so I can attach a vertical fore grip and flashlight mount. Where can I purchase one of these attachments? Trying to buy within Canada if possible.

Thanks

Usually not a instock item. You might get very lucky if you call around. In the end you will probably have to order it from any shop that sells Beretta firearms.

I can't remember where I bought my rail, sorry.

I find that the rail is too far forward to mount a vertical grip and besides that I don't see the need for a foregrip unless you have tons of stuff on your front rail.

Could you please elaborate on which .223 semi. NR rifle(s) are better then a MR1 and why? (perhaps you're referring to an AR-180 B2 &/or ?), Thanks...

Cheers D

Actually yes I would take a used AR180B2 over a MR1 in that price range for a black rifle. Im not saying the MR1 is a bad rifle. It just seems to me that the rifle has an identity crisis. It seems to be a half ass attempt to make a good black rifle.

The ergonomics of the rifle prevent it from being a good tactical rifle. Is it unergonomic? Not really. But the controls are different enough to say they are not good or well thought out.

So if the MR1 is not truly a tactical rifle, then hopefully it can shoot. But in this regard it is odd to. Accuracy out of the barrel is acceptable for a semi. It is on par with AR15's and other black rifles. Not better just on par.

But the problem with achieving accuracy is, it is a little harder to do with the MR1. The stock isn't placed all that well for a proper cheek weld some find. Also the top rail is short limiting what optics and where they can be placed. The fixed rear sight has to be adapted to if it is left on. You will have to use a optic with a higher mount to clear the rear sight. All these things hinder it in the proper set up to achieve satisfactory accuracy.

The MR1 also has virtualy no after market support as well.

Is the MR1 a good tactical black rifle? I would say not really. Is it a good semi automatic rifle? I would say yup. It is pretty reliable with the Argo gas system. It is solidly built and its accuracy is acceptable. But the rifle feels to me it was done half ass when designed.

But for what it costs in that price range to obtain a New MR1 I would rather spend my money on a used AR180B2 that is of a more conventional layout for a black rifle.

But for the best bang for a buck semi auto if money is no object, then the best black non restricted rifles on our market are the Tavor, XCR or a rebarreled ACR.

Thanks for the very detailed reply, I'm also considering the Tavor; any thoughts on the H&K SL8?

Haven't played with a SL8 yet myself. But from what is stated, it is reliable, a bit front end heavy but extremely accurate semi auto rifle. It has proprietary magazines. For some like me that is a huge no no. For others it isn't a problem.
