Who has owned one and would recommend it? I'm very interested. The ergos seem pretty decent. I dont really care about the lack of after market accessories. I just want a range/bush gun. And don't really want the t97. The price seems alright. I couldn't find to many threads on it so I'm guessing not many people have owned one. Thanks guys.

I owned one and really enjoyed the rifle until it broke. At ~1100 rounds the recoil spring broke and had to send it for warranty repair (they claimed it was the first time they had seen the issue). They fixed the spring but it never ran right after that. I sold it to a fellow CGNer who had more gun smithing skills than myself who felt he could get it running right again. You don't hear about people having too many problems with the gun and I wish I still had it but c'est la vie.

People complain about the ergos but once you get used to them it runs pretty slick. I always think about getting one again but, with my luck, I'd be sending it off for warranty repair again.

you can do the bolt release with your trigger finger. it's right infront of the trigger guard. I love my mr1. I've shot many guns and it's still my favorite. mine occasionally has problems with lar 15 mags, but pmags and the one that came with the rifle work great

Surprisingly heavy, not as accurate as I hoped it will be, wonky manual of arms. Don't know how well they run. I wouldn't run one. If you wanted a non restricted 223 there are only 3 that I would contemplate. HK SL8, IWI Tavor, Swiss classic Green or Black(this is under investigation by the rcmp atm though). Both the sl8 and the swiss are quite heavy though. And the tavor has a #### trigger, and the drawbacks of any bullpup design.

If you were interested in a different caliber, might I recommend a cz858 or a csa vz58 in 7.62x39?

i thought these were also being looked into by RCMP?
and im not a fan of them, but for the money they do the trick.

Perhaps, I'm not too sure what's going on with them. But there is a fair few floating on the ee for decent money. Can't go wrong with them. It's highly unlikely the cz will be prohib. It's an extremely difficult gun to turn it into a select fire gun.

for OP since he looks like he wants the 223 guns, I imagine he will end up with the mini 14, however the only viable recommendation I can see is used sl8. because tavors are nowhere to be found and are spectacularly pricey.

I've decided on the xcr-l. I've had such a hard time making up my mind between the t97, jr carbine, mr1 and xcr. The xcr was my last choice because of price but after thinking about it id rather just save up for a couple months and get a rifle I truly want and won't be disappointed with. I'm hoping I'll have enough to buy it buy January. February at the latest.

i know someone debating on selling one just because it may go prohib... no interest in digging a hole and hiding it.

im also considering a ZCR because i want something other than 5.56...but i want to go hands on one first.
The MR-1 is a nice deal, used.

The prices it sells for new kinda scare me.
lebaron with the member discount is about what they go for used. ide go adjustable stock if i was going to get one. just wish there was a good AR stock adapter because the MR1 stock sits kinda low...i know there are a few options but from what ive seen they were ....meh..

I dunno how someone finds the MR1 heavy. What are they, 8 lbs? Mine was light IMO. Everyone who complains about them only wants an AR and should stick with that. Its not an AR. Mag changes are fast if you know how to do it right. Reliability is like the Mini 14. With good mags they don't quit. They pretty much clean themselves and can go forever without a cleaning or malfunction. They still have the ergos of a shotgun and very limited aftermarket support. Its one of the few .223 semis that you don't have to worry about breaking down or malfunctioning. If the ergos dont bother you then you will probably like it. If all you want is a non-restricted AR then you won't like it. You'll probably hate it. XCR is the best option for NR .223 most like an AR but it is still not an AR. Its a somewhat goofy bastard child of a drunk AR and slut AK... You'll probably love it :D I did :)

I've owned one, I sold it to buy an XCR and then sold the XCR to buy a Swiss Arms.

In retrospect, the MR1 was a very nice rifle. It's black in colour but not really black in function. It shoulders very nicely, is quite accurate, and the build quality is outstanding. The ergonomics for fast mag changes just aren't there to be honest. It really depends what you want to use it for: 3 gun, no way; hunting / plinking, you won't regret it.

I really like my swiss but every once and a while I find myself wondering if I should downgrade back to an MR1 that's half the price.

I like my MR1 collapsible stock.

I don't use it for "go fast" shooting and use it mainly for range use and plinking in the field.

It has been very reliable and runs flawlessly with my LAR mags.

It NEVER jams, I never clean it and it even feeds HP ammo without a hiccup.

I have scoped it with see thru rings (I know, I know) so the irons are still useable.

I just put on a cheek rest and the cheek weld is lot better with it.

Overall I like it, don't regret the purchase and frankly rarely shoot my CQA anymore.

Cant go wrong with a Benelli MR-1, it is one of the most reliable and accurate 223 NR SA out there, i know ergonomics suck... Bof i can live with that... JP.

there are better option for this cal. However, I had several items form Benelli and never had issues with it

If he does and it's at a fair price I would love to buy it off him.

Can you quantify that? What kind of testing have you done to it? How many rounds? How many rounds between cleaning?

What distance is that shot taken at and what was the grouping with what ammo?
