Benelli SBE II - Paint Help

Should have got it coated with a duracoat or armorcoat the minute you bought it.

Winchesters come with that feature for less money.

If the paint is anything like the paint on bros MAX-4 Stoeger it's pitiful and chips so easily.

Hello All,

I purchased a Benelli Super Black Eagle II 2 years ago and I fired not more than 150 shots. Unfortunately, from the beginning, I noticed that the paint on the stock (around the trigger) has been coming off. Moreover, this season, the paint condition has drastically deteriorated beyond acceptable.

Couple of weeks ago, I sent the shotgun back to Stoeger Canada for repair, they have returned it as is and they justified the issue as normal wear! I find this ridiculous since I predict that in a year or so my stock will be black color and the rest of the shotgun is camo color. What is interesting though, only paint on plastic part is coming off! The paint on barrel has very good bonding

I wonder if any of you have similar issues with their SBE II and what are your suggestions. I paid approximatively $2400 for this shotgun and now it looks like crap! Too bad I was considering to purchase an R1 but now I hesitate …

Please note that I cleaned this shotgun carefully and I did not use any chemical or any other substance to damage the paint

I will try to post some pictures later on

Thanks

What do you clean the exterior of your gun with?

I hunt with a SBE II and an R1 and they are both great. Mine are both black though and I notice that the matte barrells show marks easy. Sorry I can't comment on the paint peeling, but I just wanted to tell you R1's are nice hunting rifles.
My GUESS for the paint peeling is that they didn't prep the stock propperly before coating it and it should be up to them to fix it. (especially if the paint is coming off in flakes and not smoothly rubbing off high weear areas)

contact the company direct and with a copy of the sales recipt showing the date of order.
allso send info relating to the fact that its a hunting gun and has seen little use.
The make the best standard shotgun on the market, they will stand behind it.

That is really shocking that you would get that on such an expensive rifle that is otherwise a real beautiful gun! I've used my friend's SBE and am so impressed with it for shooting. I've noticed that the camo on his is wearing around that area too, but he really mistreats his and I chalked it up to that and not faulty paint.
I suppose you could just repaint it.

Thank you guys for the reply. I really like the SBE II (shoots and handle very well) but this issue is making this shotgun looks very cheap! I just can’t believe that they have returned the shotgun as is. Yes, I sent them a copy of my original receipt and all other requirements ... and of course i never cleaned the exterior with Solvents or other harmful substance...

I won’t even bother mention about their horrible service (Stoeger Canada), they never answer their calls and finally I had to get an email contact from Benelli USA so i can reach one of their staff in Toronto …

btw, Stoeger Canada is responsible for all Benelli warranty issues in Canada

Really don’t know how to get this repair; I should have bought the gun black in the first place ...

contact the us head office, it in known how bad the service is in canada.
I will say oen thing, those pvd finishes in cammo are not standing up to the test of time, many companys are having that problem.

Pretty much all camo finish on firearm is called camo dipping and not painted on.

It is nothing but basically laminate a camo sheet over the item whether its a gun or anything, unfortunately that thin layer of laminate will eventually wear out.

Benelli's come with a 5 year warranty and it may take your vendor to "push" Stoeger. I had a couple unrelated problems with my SBEII and Wolverine had me new parts with only so much as one phone call to Ryan.
