Benelli Super Black Eagle or a Beretta Urika??

Both of these are fine guns. Both have features that can be argued are better than the other. Both have some points that some may argue are a disadvantage. Both have a loyal following. I have tried both and for what I do I chose the Beretta just because for me and what I expect, I like the Beretta better.
 
I chose the SBE II. Fit me far better then the beretta. I'm a fan of the inertia system. Also easier to field strip. Might just be me but I think it was lighter then the Beretta. Haven' t fire any traop loads but as far as hunting loads go (slugs, waterfowl loads and turkey loads) it has functioned flawlessly.

The Benelli's recoil more IMO than a gas gun like my Urika. For clays I'll stick with my gas gun. But for a rugged field gun, the Benelli's have a lot going for them.
 
I have a Bennelli Super Sport i use for sporting clays,its a precision made easy to clean gun. There may be slightly more recoil than the Beretta but not enough to make a differrence to me. It fits me well and is light with carbon fiber stock. The downside is expense. People that shoot doves in South America,claim that for high volume shooting you can go 3000 shots without cleaning so its the best for this application. Thats not an issue for me.
You cant go wrong with either brand so get the one that fits you best. The Beretta does have more parts to the mechanism but all the people i know love theirs.

Benelli SBE II

I do alot of shotgun shooting and have tried pretty much everything to try. I went with the SBE II with the comfortech stock and the 3.5 26". Found the gun the most comfortable to handle and the most reliable. The benelli's are simple with nothing to go wrong and the inertia/comfortech system sucks up most of the recoil. Gas guns are more maintenance with the many more moving parts and O-rings are always another thing to fail. I mostly hunt with my shotgun and also found the benelli to be the most reliable and efficient to handle. The beretta was good and nice to shoot, but I didn't like the feel of it when loading and the little extra weight. If you are shooting at a range when quick loading isn't a priority you may like the berreta better.

* My only advice is to shoot both of them before you buy one. If you go to the local trap/sporting clay club someone should have something for you to try.
 
I'd hold off for a couple more weeks until Benelli unveils the Vinci. There's numerous rumors floating around about this gun but nothing concrete so far. Ideally it will combine the SBEII handling with the Xtrema2 K/O recoil absorption. But if you're set between the SBE/SBEII or Urika2/Xtrema2 then your best bet would be to handle both - knowing ahead of time what exactly you want from the new gun.

I had an Extrema, but didnt use 3.5'' much so I traded for a Urika. Both work well when dry, but neither one likes rain. I will be selling my Urika to get a Benelli fo this comming fall.
 
try them both instore. There is a little different in feel & fit. Check how you like the beads & how they line up.The one that points best for you is the best. Just my$.02 though, good luck

Can you explain in more detail? What happened with your Xtrema when it rained?

I have an Xtrema - works great for me and I can't imagine it being much easier to clean (but I've never stripped an SBE - maybe they're REALLY easy). ONly issue that I've had is using too much oil in cold weather - froze up one me. Hasn't happened since I went more minimal with the oil. I got a good deal on the Xtrema, but if I had it to do again I'd take a closer look at the SBE because it's available in true left-hand, so no shells across the field of view for me (I'm left-eye dominant, so shoot left).
Also, the over-molded stock on the berettas (I believe that the Urika has it too?) are great for waterfowling, but I don't like carrying it around all day for upland, same for clays. The benellis have more of a traditional shaped stock.
Xtrema is a soft-kicking gun for sure, esp with the kick-off, but doens't SBE have one of those mercury tubes in the stock? I thought that those were pretty good at absorbing recoil as well?
Like you - I've fallen for Benelli's "Vinci" marketing ploy - I can't wait to see what it is! My wife and my bank account hope it's not TOO cool!

I'm with you DW. I have an Extrema1 and the rain has never affected it at all. In the cold I run it as dry as possible and all this talk about SBEs being easy to strip...I can take down my Extrema in the field with no tools in under a minute. I mean, its designed to be a waterfowlers gun that is rain proof and field strip-able. The SBE is a great gun too but they are "different". I think they feel different, swing different, and kick different. They are both very reliable great guns...just different.

Neither the Extrema that I had or the Urika I currently have cycle reliably in the rain. I had a Beretta ES100 Pintail before both of these that never missed a stroke in any weather and I am still kicking my a$$ that I sold it.I wouldnt recomend an Extrema, or a Urika to anyone who hunts in the rain.
