Peace yall,

Looking to see what kind of experiences anyone has with these 2 models, I'm ify on the reliability of semis. But I heard great things on the m2, I'm looking to either get a short barrel option 14-18" of either. Running slugs, and reliability is the major factor as I'm going to be using this as a bear gun when I go put into the bush. Of course I will train and practice to get used to it. I value the wisdom of people on this forum with their hands on experiences.

Added might just go big with the m4.

Both are excellent shotguns. The M2 being semi-auto, your restricted to a 18.5" barrel at shortest. My 2 cents would be to get an M2 as they are so reliable, no risk of short stroking a pump, and reliable is important when it comes to bears.

M2 is excellent.
Alternatives:
Beretta 1301 - pretty good, expect a few wear items to be replaced once in a while. I own 1301 Comp and M2, the latter feels much more solid.
Sauer SL5 - an Italian clone of M2, IIRC. Currently on sale at the gun dealer in NB, $900 is good price

Did you have a pistol grip or standard?
