Benelli Super Nova vs Remington 870

I have both the Benelli nova (not super nova) and an 870. To be honest my 870 sits in the safe. I love the nova, takes any ammo and has never failed me. You wont be dissapointed with a Benelli.
That being said there is nothing wrong with an 870. My suggestion is to buy both, I did.

With the Super Nova you would have the option of using 3 1/2 shells for the turkey.
I'm shopping for a Super Nova as well. Had a 1187 super mag it was bad for cycling.
From what I could gather Remmingtons quality control isnt what it used to be.
So far the best price I've found on a new Super Nova is $710 (camo)

I own both a Supernova and 870 express tactical, and shot a few other 870s over the years.
In my opnion, the Benelli is a higher quality gun, with better finish and smoother action.
I would stay away from the 870 express if i were you. The newer ones are cheaply built and i have seen one jam twice at the club, with the last shell stuck in the chamber so hard, it had to be hammered out.
I know the older 870 Wingmaster has always been of better quality than the Express, but i don't know if quality has gone down on them as well, so i would advise you to do a bit more research on it.
You might also want to check out the Browning BPS. They're good guns and in the same price range.
In the end, i would strongly advise you to try to at least shoulder any gun you are considering, and find which one fits you best.

I was asking myself the same question when I was looking into getting my first shotgun. I ended up buying a Benelli Supernova. Not that I have a lot of experience with either gun, but from my research I found out about the Remington quality control issues lately. The 870 is indeed easier to modify/has more out there for it, and with the Supernova you will be paying more and looking harder to find those extras you may want, but the gun itself is fantastic. I went with the Supernova because I could get it with an adjustable stock, takes all shell sizes, had great reviews, and had less recoil than an 870. I bought the Benelli without having used one before, but having used a Remington 870 previous to that. I was very content with my decision to get the Supernova, definitely don't regret it one bit.

the 870 is a great gun, rem-chokes are cheap and can be found anywhere. Put the super full in for turkey, and anything from mod to full for trap depending on preference.
The Benelli is a higher quality gun but with a significant price increase. Is it worth is? that's for you to decide.
In the end I'd say get what ever fits best. If the gun doesn't fit you you're not going to shoot it well.

Are there alot of options for lighting on Supernova and nova pump platforms? Also who is a good dealer to deal with for Benelli products?
From someone who owns both, I say for a few extra $$ go with the supernova. I've probably got around 1000 rounds through mine and haven't had a single jam or FTE. I've got a Nordic +4 extension with a clamp that makes it 8+1.
Three small issues that I have with it: The action is not nearly as smooth as my old 870, though it is getting better the more I shoot it. Also the quality of the stock leaves something to be desired. The long stroke takes some getting used to as well, but I guess that's just a function of it being a 3.5" shotgun.
I bought mine from a local gun shop who told me he had sold dozens of supernovas and everyone seemed happy with them. Not a lot for aftermarket parts.
