I am thinking about buying a Benelli Supernova 12G, 28" barrel, Max-5 camo as a dedicated waterfowl gun. I shouldered one today and it felt pretty good, only thing I noticed was it felt long (49.5") and heavy (8-LBS). I guess as a dedicated waterfowl gun this is what you want for shooting 3" and 3.5" shells and swinging on fast moving ducks, right? Does anybody here use the Supernova 12G, 28" barrel for waterfowling? How do you like it? Can you give me your opinions and experiences, Thanks.

I just recently bought a used Nova with the 26 inch barrel. The proportions feel right to me, and the buttstock length is right, for me, with heavy waterfowling coat on.
Weight is good with heavy recoiling waterfowl loads. I won't be using it as an upland gun.

i bought one for my dad and i should have bought a nova for the price difference it is not worth it in my opinion.Good luck!

I have one and really like it. It shoots well and I think it is a good value for a good gun. I just put on a patternmaster code black goose choke and it is good as well. I would recommend one, but I will probably go to a semi auto in a couple years, all my buddies have them so have to keep up with the Jones's. Beretta A400 extreme will be my next waterfowl gun, but until then this one works fine. Just remember to shuck it all the way back as it is a 3 1/2" stroke on it and can be easy to short shuck on big flocks of birds when you just want to shoot.

I have the same gun in Max-4. It's a great shotgun. Top quality pump. Shoots any sized 12g shell. Great for waterfowl and it works for grouse, rabbit, and clays. I took mine out for deer yesterday. I have a 686-1Sp for clay sports, but the Benelli is my 'do everything' gun. It's only drawback is its carrying weight. The only reason I'd ever sell it is for a semi-auto Benelli, or Beretta!

I love the browning BPS for waterfowl. Shoulder one and decide which feels better. Your buddies in the blind will appreciate not getting your hulls thrown at them. Haha.

I have tried and owned a BPS and it does not fit me at all, not enough drop in the stock. Nice gun but doesn't fit me, no Browning/Winchester products fit me.

I have used a Benelli SuperNova as my primary waterfowl gun (canada goose & large ducks) for 3 years now. It is a big & heavy gun but that's what it is designed to be, a blind gun. In the winter I will use it coyote hunting as well, it's size + weight take the bite out of those 3.5" 00 buckshot loads.

I've had my Benelli for a number of years and love it. The previous posters are correct when they say its primarily suited for the blind. Gets heavy for upland and its too long to swing around in the bush...
