benelli vinci vs a beretta xtrema 2 ?

hi im new to cgn and I was wondering is the bennelli vinci would be a good over all goose/duck gun more so then a beretta xtrema 2 ? I am stumped over which would be the better buy, in reliablity, maintenance, durability and the ability to provide a lot of accurate fire down range?

Buy the gun for the fit to your should and arms, not some one else.

At the $1700- 2000 range both are going to be a good gun, pick them up and hold them.

I could have had a Xtremma 2 for the same price as my SX3 back when I bought it, but I bought the SX3 for fit.
 
I believe that a gun has to fit you properly to be effective. I personally own a Xtrema 2 and before that the AL391 I found that the Xtrema actually fit me better.The position of the grip was different enough to make it fit me. The main differences between the Xtrema and the Vinci is that the Xtrema is gas operated and the Vinci is inertia driven. The Xtrema 2 can shoot 3.5" shells the Vinci cannot. Not a big deal especially with the great selection of 3" ammo available. The Vinci is a pretty light gun as well 6.9lbs which maybe a handful with big magnum rounds (ie: 2oz turkey loads), the Xtrema is approx 8lbs. As for reliability I believe that you won't go wrong with either gun. The Vinci is a cool looking gun, but I would handle both before I did anything. I would also look at the Beretta AL391 as well because it is a 3" gun which would be comparable to the Vinci. The prices I found were as follows Xtream 2 w/KO is $1865, without KO $1600. AL391 $1360 or w/KO $1720 and the Winchester SX3 is $1350. Couldn't find a price for the Vinci but I guess $1600+.

Wow, those are cheaper prices than my local area, a SX3 goes for $1560 +tax now in any camo, and xtremas were $1850+ tax.

I got my Sx3 Mossy Oak Duckblind 1 year ago for $1450 taxes in.

I am going most definitely "play" around with either before i make my final choice .. I just wanted to make sure, more or less, that I am going to get the best for the amount i em going to spend..

But do keep in mind I have been hunting with the same mossberg 400g for the past 10 years hahah

I quoted these prices from Epps website that they had listed. They are a sponsor here on CGN. The Xtrema's come in the 2 versions the one with kick off and the one without kick-off, it is about a $265 option and it works quite well.

The benelli Vinci is a 12g 3in.
And berretta xtrema 2 is a 12g 3-1/2 in.

23/4-inch, 1-ounce equivalent loads through brutal 31/2-inch magnum loads—interchangeably if you so desire.

Just throwing this out there and might just be the cheapest price wise. Browning Maxus. Got mine camo 3.5inch $1450 and can be as cheap as $1150 + taxes

The Beretta gas guns are the most reliable in history. I did a test report on a 390 that had 25024 rounds with no cleanning and only a few drops of Break Free. It had only 20 FTF and some were caused by untapered shells. My 391 Gold Optima Sporting has not been cleanned since I got the first one in Canada with a 30 inch barrel. The gun shoots more hunting loads than target. I can usualy go through several thousand hunting loads each fall. I do backup on our pheasant shoots and do a number corporate and private goose and duck hunts. A gas gun is softer shooting than a recoil operated gun. It pushes and does not punch.

As for Browning and Winchester incarnations as well as the Turkish contingent, they keep changing design every few years trying to make something work that usualy ends up not working with all loads. The Beretta basic design is from 1980 with a few mods to make it more user friendly. It is not a design makeover as the others!

Benelli hands down! Cleaning the Vinci will be a cinch. Something about the simplicity of their system that inspires confidence. I don't think you really need 3", people have been shooting geese & duck with 2 3/4" & 3" just fine before 3 1/2" arrived. I have a SuperSport and couldn't be happier, easiest gun I have to clean.
