Benelli worth the HYPE!!!!

You are always going to have Benelli Fanboys (I am One) and Beretta fan boys. Basically it comes down to what gun feels good in your hands and fits you well. Leave the brand out of it. Both guns will do the average gunner just fine.

For me I had it narrowed down to those guns, The Beretta felt too fat in my hands and felt more awkward for me to hold. I picked up my SBE2 and and it shouldered well and pointed perfect for ME!

Play with them in the store, even if you are walking and pointing them for 30min who cares, you are going to be dropping 1500$+ on a gun the least they can do is let you fondle them!

Just mt 2 cents

You do not have to ship the gun south for a trigger job. Just the trigger group has to be shipped. I have sent two. One for a 390 and one for a SX-1. Upon return, the 390 was better.

Doen't Beretta owm benelli? Are not some of the beretta's and benelli's made on the same machinery? I have a Beretta 390 and a 1200, both great guns, the beretta 1200 uses some of the same accessories as the benelli....

I've seen way to many fail. I'd never own one even if it was given to me

Lol. When I read this I automatically thought the same thing about being given a Corvette fore free.
I'd call a tow truck to take it back to the dealership (keeping the kms at 0) so I could trade it in for something more worthy.

LOL that could be true, but most of my customers are fat white guys that sit on their ass all day reading crap on the internet and go by names like TDC, WIN94 ect and :)
So i think ill be ok :)
bbb

Guess that let's me off the hook. Good Lord I was worried.

Do you think it's good for business saying; Quote bbb "but most of my customers are fat white guys that sit on their ass all day reading crap on the Internet"
If I was one of your customers (lol) I would be a little offended by that statement.
You can cancel all my future orders. :)
I really cannot believe someone that wants to do business with the great people on this Forum would actually make a statement like that....:HR:

It's a low risk for him to say it on this forum. We aren't his customer base. He's after the tacticool crowd on the B&G forum. As long as he's providing a steady stream of bayonet mounts and smiley face end caps he should continue to propser.

I own a benelli supersport 12ga. I love it. Soft recoil, crisp trigger, easy to clean, and looks great. i would shop around though to find a store that offers a decent price. But no complaints so far.

One downside with the benelli is the lack of aftermarket parts for them. I can't even find a shell stopper for my supersport.

I presume you are referring to a "shell catcher". Birchwood Casey sells a universal wire catcher for Semi Auto's. They actually work ok. I used one on my SX-1 till I was able to find a T&S one for it.

Yes, I meant a shell catcher. i've looked into the Birchwood Casey universal shell catcher but not too keen on any stick on stuff. I even tried the T&S shell catcher for the Benelli Montefeltro but it didn't fit. for now, i'm sticking to my good old rubber band.

I have a Benelli Super Black Eagle II and I absolutely love it for duck and geese. I've never had an issue with the gun at all, shot lots of different ammo through it. I use Beretta for trap and skeet, but you can't beat the benelli for some great semi-auto fun! Pretty soft on recoil too...

Well, I only read three pages of this thread but here are my two cents.

Benelli autoloaders are very well made and function very well in all weather, they will last you a very very very long time, that said they are lightweight, kick like mules, and are for the most part ugly. Worst of all they are overpriced by a large margin, still didn't stop me from buying a couple of super sports.

Beretta gas loaders are equally as well made, the too function in all kinds of weather, I shot mine in a tournament at the end of march in -20 degree weather with 50-60 km an hour winds with sideways snow/freezing rain, I was so cold my face would actually freeze to the stock in the short time it was there.

Best part about the beretta is the recoil is much less, the guns are heavier and they look good. They also cycle light loads a lot more reliably.

Finally it needs to be said, the Remington 1100, the work horse, I have NEVER been let down by my favourite 1100, the only thing I've ever replaced was the o-ring, big deal. It works in all kinds of weather.

About five or six years ago I was standing atop of hurricane hill (IE Oshawa skeet club) it was a full shoot and they had to put on an extra flight for the 12 ga. event early in the morning. Start time was 8:00 am, Pouring rain like you've never seen, I went out there with my squad mates, getting completly soaked, I was wearing a Bob Allen shooting pouch with the vinyl coating on the inside, I had to dump the water out on stations 4 and 7, the shells were actually floating in the water!!! Never had a hiccup. In the 4th round the rain stopped and the thickest fog ever rolled in, our referee, as some of you may remember him, was Norbert Maeves (RIP), I asked him "what do we do if the fog gets any thicker?" He turned to me and said "sound's like a good shot!" and gave me smile.

Trusty old 1100 never let me down and she was soaked to her very core.

She's also very pretty, ask nice and maybe I'll show a picture ;)

That said only buy the older ones IE 80's and earlier.

I know I deviated a little from the topic, but there seems to be a lot of clay snobs who enjoy bashing the old remmington autoloaders and someone should stand up for a truly great gun.

All right here are some pics of my trusty old 1100, the last two pics are my favourite, best part of the whole gun, the amazing wood, don't care too much for the gold in the receiver.

The stock has a matte finish, but I put some gun oil on the stock to make the wood stand out a little better, the lighting in the room is terrible.

Last skeet shoot I took her to, she bagged me a 98 in 12 ga. event

She has briley thinwall choke tubes installed, I like to call her my grind'em up gun ;)

It does pattern amazingly well and shoots a super flat 50/50 POI which I love, plus it fits me like a tailor made glove.

She looks a lot better in person I might add.

Enjoy!

I have a Benelli super black & hunted in heavy rain never had a cycle problem unless I used light loads under 1 1/8 oz in 2 3/4 any thing heavier than this never thought twice.

gwagon,
awesome wood and a shooter to boot! I am envious!

Envious of a DU 1100 - :p

Been down the 1100 route and not going back - good gun in their day.

Benelli and Beretta are the current state of the art both in the field and Clay sports. Browing still doing a lot of flip flopping from Gold to Silver.

Love my SBE and Supersport.

Recently departed Beretta 391 Optima Camo was great gun as well.
