Hey everyone, I just got a package in the mail from Varusteleka. They're a large military surplus dealer in Finland. I ordered some Beninese anti-poaching camo from them, and I wanted to say how much I liked it. The stuff I got fits perfectly (the hat's a bit tight, but that's because of my big head lol).

Here are some pictures: https://flic.kr/s/aHsmV5P1ai

I like finding unique stuff, and I bet there's not a whole lot of African camo in Canada.

The Beninese anti-poachers were a part of the Beninese armed forces. While our game wardens aren't part of the armed forces, do you think they should receive something designed for the wilderness they are assigned to, or should they keep wearing their issued uniforms? I know CADPAT is pretty good for most areas here, but should there be something unique for the wardens?

It may vary by province , but the Conservation Officers / Forest Rangers here wear green uniforms , and drive dark green vehicles ; so they seem to blend in pretty good already . Not sure if they have any camo stuff or not ?

They wouldn’t want anything that blends in too much here, the risk of being shot by hunters accidentally would skyrocket otherwise.

Anti-poachers are in their armed forces because they are fighting these poachers who are also well armed (if not better armed) than the anti-poachers themselves. They need the camo because they are basically soldiers and they are fighting real enemies.

.....I bet there's not a whole lot of African camo in Canada......

Really? Wanna bet? You'd be surprised what some people collect besides guns.....

^ Oh my god, if the Canadian media ever saw that it would be labelled a assault uniform "cache", and that drunk Bill "Kettling" Blare would have to go on a cross Canada bender consulting "stakeholders" about forthcoming legislation. Super collection you have built up there Bartok5.

That Beninese Anti-Poaching camo fatigues on pictures-is there a label where it was manufactured? It looks very interesting and rather simple,I wonder if it's locally manufactured.

Unfortunately there is no info on where it was made. The only thing it says on the tag is "Soframa-France", which is a military surplus store in France. There's a good chance they got a good amount of material and made these themselves. However, Benin was a French colony, so I'm sure they could have gotten France to make the uniforms for relatively cheap. Or, like you said, they could have made it themselves.

I more meant on the commercial market than in private collections. I am incredibly jealous of that collection though. I need to find some Rhodie camo. Let me know if you ever want to part with some!

A buddy of mine, just waiting for him to re-stock. h ttps://www.green-leader.net/

Unreal that flat rate shipping from the other side of the world is $14.99, but it costs me $16 to send a thick envelope 3 hours away.

Without label you can't tell who made the fabric but having a qualified and knowledgeable seamstress look at stitching could tell you who made it.

Take it to a tailor, see if he could help.Could be worth a trip.

Bartok

We need a uniform of the day post, (ok of the week?) With a pic or 3 and some background on the uniform. It would generate a lot of interest i bet.
