I'm doing a Mosin project, already got an Archangel stock, now I'm looking for a good bent bolt handle. I know ATI makes a bolt on one, but I'm wondering if anyone in Canada is selling a Mosin bolt body with a good handle already welded on. Something like what Rock Solid industries is selling?

I'd buy that one, but I don't think they ship to Canada.

Thanks guys. I've been doing a bit of research and I might just try making my own bolt handle... if that fails miserably at least I can get one from Corwin.

I have handled the Corwin Bolts - the work is pretty darn good - they used original bolts and then had the new handles fitted and secured into place - great for 91/30 sniper projects.

I'm thinking of adding one to my next order from Martin. He is the first, and usually only, site dealer I go to for all my Russian rifle needs.

I was actually looking for the same thing. A nice guy on CGN actually just sent me his installed ATI bolt for 40 bucks, I couldnt justify the price for a welded bent bolt so I just asked around first. It pays off sometimes.

I looked at the ATI bolt handle but I'm not sure I like it. What do you think of it?
I am definitely trying to keep mine on the cheap, which is why I'm thinking of making some kind of handle myself.

I made my own. Drilled and tapped through the lug/guide, put a bolt in till it was tight, figured out the angle I wanted for a swept back handle, marked it with a sharpie, took it out and put it in a vice, heated and bent it. Then cut the head off, and slid on an empty 7.62x54R casing filled with epoxy to serve as a knob. Finally I nickel plated it, and then used loctite to secure it back onto the bolt. And of course I shortened the threaded end so that it was not protruding inside the bolt. It works great.

That's a pretty neat looking handle. This is more or less the method I was considering, only difference is I think I'll drill and tap the old ball off the original handle and reuse that. It should end up looking pretty much like the corwin, but cost about two bucks. Every dollar I save on the bolt is another dollar I can spend on the optics.

Westrifle I think its 30$ with free shipping and if you already have a drill/tap/bits/hacksaw its easy.

I had a second bolt body so I converted that one.

Question.....does putting the bolt handle on at a swept back angle make any difference as compared to the normal turned down bolt on a standard 91/30 sniper rifle ?? I have a bolt to work on for my carbine project...

Hell yeah! You can add 200fps & shrink your group size by 1/3 just with that one mod.

Closer to the trigger I guess. How I set mine up.

Gee thanks desporterizer, can I put a rocket on it too..? What I was hoping is that by changing the bolt handle, it would make the action easier to cycle the bolt. What the hell, I'll try it and if i don't like it, changing it is not alot of work...

You would have to put a rocket on it to get any reduction in bolt effort. Bending away from the stock and making the bolt handle longer will reduce the effort required to cycle the bolt but will make it more awkward to operate through its entire range of motion. Bending back towards the shooter does nothing but make it look more "tacicool". The ATI set up is the worst I have ever tried for effort. That is only my opinion so you can take it for what it's worth.
