I have a bent de priming pin on a set of RCBS 44 mag carbide dies I got used from this site.

It is not to bad, maybe 10 degrees or 1/16"

What to do?

Just bend it back?
Will slightly off be hard on my brass?

U need it to be straight. If its hardened steel it may break b4 it bends back but obviously u dont want it missing the center of the flash hole and causing problems. If it wont straighten out, its always nice to have extra on hand for just such an occasion. What's more worrysome is the cause of the bent pin.

decap pin

The little decap pin is removable and replacable. Older style have a collet type chuck holding them in, the newer ones have a rim on the end and a "retainer" must be unscrewed. Check which type you have and get replacements. Also note that the older type have 'large' and a 'small' dismeter ones.

In a pinch buy a box of the ringed finishing nails used for putting up moldings. Those that are 1" or longer by .075 diameter work fine when cut to length, and will last as long as factory pins. There are enough in one box to last exactly 6 guys 3 lifetimes, and you even get a choice of colour.:) Almost as good are the common blued "box nails", but they're softer, bend easier and you have to grind a bit of the rim of the head down.
You might have to waste a couple first time around, may have to reduce the diameter a hair, but it beats waiting for the post office or the local sporting goods store.

Don't use the de-capping pin if it's bent even a little. You could also bend the de-capping rod.
Ask me how I know:redface: :slap:
On the other hand, RCBS seems to stand by their product and honour warranty claims by shiping NC to Canada. :D

I did the same when i snapped a pin. I replaced it with a finishing nail while I waited for my order of pins to show up.

I'll let you know when I change out the nail for a new pin.

I used the shank of a small drill bit in a pinch until I could get to the store to buy a pack of de-capping pins. Of course I had to snap off the drilling part of the bit, but I have a few spares around.....I Hope :D
