Bent or broken bullet tips

I utilze the RCBS collet bullet puller. I haven't pulled many bullets like some other guys, probably 50 since 1982. Small caliber bullets such as, 243, 257, 270 are much easier to pull. The 30 caliber and up seemed more difficult without damaging them, especially if they are seated deep. The hammer puller never appealed to me.
 
Put an ear plug in the bottom of the bullet puller. Works great - no more f'd up tips.

If you're a big spender, get a collet style puller like the Forster or RCBS - no more scratched up bullets.

Metal fatigue I guess - 13,000 is a lot of rounds to pull apart before it breaks. Some ammo doesn't come apart easily when its been sitting for a couple decades, especially if it's seated deep and not much ogive above the case mouth (like 300wm)
 
My RCBS bullet puller hammer came to pieces after about 20 years of use. Figure it didn't owe me anything after all that time and untold thousands of rounds pulled.
 
My only comparable is using partitions. Certainly not a pointy bullet, I'm not concerned with bc or chronograph difference. Those partitions are really prone to having the exposed lead tip get squashed or peened when I unload back from hunting. Save em for finishing shots or fouling at the range.
