Picked up a ska a while back and at first thought the front sight block was canted but after measuring it on a flat auface the barrel is bent 1/8” to one side. I’ve seen the old bent barrel stg44 but still has me wondering if this is a safety issue at all or if there is some way to remedy this, a year ago I would just bought another but with prices lately that won’t happen. Seems to shoot ok 3-4” @100 but the sight pictures leaves a bit to be desired and I can’t zero the soft points that are locally available. Split the windage differences with a tech sight?

Hi,
try stripping the gun down, looking down the barrel from the muzzle end with a light in the receiver, can you see a clear circular bore ? or is it more like a half moon ? rebending all depends on where the barrel is bent and how much of a bend is present. ( 1/8 " is extreme ) I have straightened steel drive shafts , bearing journals using a torch / ice method in a lathe that were .80 thou out to +\- 1/2 thou after.
bending it back without any defining measurements will just give it an "S" bend
This maybe a job for a quality gunsmith ( not me lol ) or search for a parts gun ? or sell it as a parts gun.
just my opinion.

Hey Guys thanks for all the reply’s, when looking down its obvious it’s bent, fk. it’s hard to capture on photos but my buddy looking in person his first reply was dang Ivan dropped it. If I line up the middle of the reciever, from and rear gas blocks this how it’s sitting. Seems to shoot fine but curious if some premature wear will occur with a gun that see a lot of plinking. The post being way over within a circle kinda messes with my eyes too, might give it AK wings

a friend had a really nice professionally sporterized enfield that was his dad's. Well buddy bent it on a tree in an atv mishap.
I sent it to jason Spencer back east and when i got it back you would never know it was ever bent in the first place.
That's what i would do if I were you.
I was shocked at how little I was charged for the service. Your barrel is bent way less the the enfield I sent in so should be no problem to straighten.
only glitch i could see would be if the barrel is chrome lined and that lining gets deformed.

Check out how far the front sight is drifted to compensate! Did you set the sight or did you buy it like that? Makes me think we really have hit bottom of the barrel on these.

I had to drift it over like that, it was still over a bit when I purchased it though. the post is hitting the sight block so there is no more adjustment or good clearance Works good for Chinese surplus I have bit the soft points shooting a bit left still. I think I’m gonna buck the wings half off like an ak, the offset circle and post really messes with me. Thanks 45acp, yeah I was wondering about the chrome as well. I’ll see how I like it with the sight hood modified a bit first but may take that route.
