Bentz chamber ammo options

Hi all, Just bought a a new barrel with a Bentz 22lr chamber. I've been looking around for ammo options that will function, and hopefully without breaking the bank. I'm aware of afew Lapua offerings, and an Aguila, but is there an actual list anyone can point me towards?

I shoot CCI out of my McGowan with a Bentz chamber. They shoot and cycle just fine its mounted on a 10/22.

My McGowan with a Bentz chamber did not prove any more accurate than the factory barrel.
The thought was this would be more effective in Speed Steel use however there were a few fail to eject issues once a number of rounds had been through it.
Eventually took it off and there is sits waiting for someone who would like to try it.
Tried a number of different brands of ammo from Eley Match to CCI SV, Blazer, CCI MiniMags.

You're looking for a list of ammo options that will function in a Bentz chamber?

The chamber is neither particularly tight nor short, so most every .22LR ammo will function, except perhaps for CCI Stingers on account of their longer casing.

If you're looking for ammo that's accurate, then use standard velocity ammo. Stay away from high velocity ammo. Match grade SV ammo in general is more accurate than regular SV. The next step beyond that is to test your rifle for what lots of your match ammo shoots best.

Sorry, to hear you were unable to find a combo that worked for you. We have run a number in CRPS, BCPRL and KTSA rimfire PRS matches and have podiumed at almost all of them

the ammo we find that works best include SK rifle match and Lapua CenterX. This ammo will gum up the works so reg cleaning is important... but that can be said for most any 10/22.

I run CCI SV and bulk HV ammo for practise. We have several rifles and pound through thousands of rds. They shoot well, and function very well... but again, we clean regularly and things just keep ticking along.







Been doing some 50yds testing to prep for upcoming X/22 match. With the right ammo, accuracy looks to be very promising... all 5rds groups.

I know that we have really worked on proper bedding, then finding the right ammo, and the barrels seem to get us on the podium often enough...

Agreed, I have a Bentz chambered Dlask and that chamber is not tight, but it is a bit tighter than the sporting chamber. You wouldn't want tighter than a Bentz in a semi-auto in any case. It will fire and eject almost anything including cheap bulk ammo. Lapua Center-X works the best in mine for the money.
