Beowulf vs. LAR mags

These are the unpinned CPD mags. They have a small crimp near the bottom to limit rounds but easily fit 15 rds of .223

But they are full length? Just like to grab on to a full length mag.

Nevermind, I found those on google. Thanks :)

Once again, you guys rock.
Cereal83: Wild west has a fantastic sale on Beowulf mags for $39.95. They are at WEM in Edmonton. HOWEVER when KB007 posted 'get the metal mags' I checked and Wild Wests mags are polymer. :( So I started searching to find info on it, and followed up on Sam Burtons comment on Del's in Vernon. I called them and they are shipping me FOUR of the CPD at $29.95 each and about $20 shipping! So I'll have 4 15 rnd mags! for just slightly over the cost of 3!
Thanks also Stevo. Excellent point on dropping mags. My IPSC training will surely kick in if I get a stove pipe and the first thing I'll do is drop the mag before clearing it. Having that spare mag will definitely be a good thing.
Thanks everyone for your input and knowledge!

Why indeed! But isn't this the exact same thing some 3gun matches (or the OAS shotgun series for example) are doing wrt shotguns? What is the rationale for limiting shotgun "magazine capacity other then to legal limits"? I presume it is the same reason Stevo has given but I honestly don't know.

I don't believe that the OAS shotgun series is limiting magazine capacities. They are only limiting starting capacity. That is no different then starting empty or mag in, nothing in the chamber. What you do after the buzzer is fine as long as you are within legal capacity.

Press Check Venture mags aren't really full length are they? (Middle)

The beowulf mags from press check that I have are supposedly made for 10 rounds of .50. If 5 rounds of .50 = 15rounds of .223/5.56 ,then in my mind if this mag was unpinned it would hold 30 rounds of .223/5.56 and as such is full length. I'll try to remember to confirm when I get home tonight and post a picture.

As it turns out I was having a brain fart. I was thinking of my Alberta tactical 10/20 AR pistol magazines. My Press Check Beowulf mags are indeed only 5 rounders.
Sorry to get anyones hopes up.
