Just ordered one from Al Flaherty's and have a +1 mag extension on order from S&J Hardware. Do the Gen 2's still need the bolt release shroud from Tau Development? Anything else I need except a bunch of ammo and some reloading practice? I am running #7-1/2, 3 dram, 1-1/8 Oz shells. Will this be ok for break-in?

My gen2 does. The Tactical version doesn't but the new lever was not part of the Comp gen 2s. Perhaps this has changed with the latest iterations.

Interesting...I was looking at the tactical versions and assumed that the new release was changed throughout the lineup. Good info.

From what I have seen/read, only the gen 2 tactical have the upgraded bolt release. Congrats, you'll love the 1301. I had no problems cycling those trap loads.

Just got it today. The 1301 Comp Gen 2 does not come with the upgraded bolt release. Luckily I have the Tau Development shroud on the way courtesy of the EE. Only real issue is the mid bead. Had to put a drop of Loctite in there as it was already loose. Other than that she is cleaned, oiled and ready to hit the range this weekend.

I had the same problem with the mid-bead. It was missing all together, likely fell out during shipping. I have read many stories of the mid bead coming out of these while firing and being lost. I also loctited it when I received a replacement, no issues so far.

I also had an issue with the shell latch being too shallow to hold rounds in the mag while firing. The vibration would release the rounds. Again, I was sent a replacement latch and it fixed the issue, but something to look out for. I never had this issue with my gen 1.

Ened up getting the Nordic +1 from TacOrd as S&J had an inventory error. Also have the Aridus YT-1301 on the way which should be here in time for the first match of the season. Finally got some range time today and it ran great. The only hiccups were when I mixed in 4 rounds of #8 7/8 Oz shells that I had left over. Those didn't have enough oomph to cycle the action and chamber the next round. I must say, I love how easy this is to ghost load.

I’ve never used the Aridus one but the shroud I have is tight with the screw. No wiggling around, it is also plastic but has never failed. The receiver is Aluminum so it’s not hard to scratch it.

Ditto for me. Possibly the screw is too long and bottoming out before it could snug up the new latch.

Just wanted to say that I LOVE this shotgun. It runs reliably, points well and has minimal recoil. I took it out for a couple rounds of trap at the club recently and shot a 19 and 21 (a personal best!). It doesn't crush clays as well on a good hit as my BT-99 but it did better than I would have expected.

How are these for recoil with turkey loads?, I Was looking at either a versa max comp Tac or a 1301. I know the versa max is better known to be light recoiling...but I don't trust Remington with the QC issues they've had/been having
