Beretta 1301 Mod 2 - What's Up With Canadian Versions?

YW. If you have f or f in the USA you can get it from BUSA, I just checked Stoeger Canada no sign of it on their website after an earlier email request to CS. You can also try Al Flaherty's as they are a "Beretta Boutique" dealer.

Its definitely the cherry on top without breaking the bank

Yah, I bought mine from Flaherty's...they do have some nice Berettas - I should have sprung for their 21" Comp model (recent batch) while they had one left, but unfortunately I don't have unlimited funds and a wedding to plan. I will check to see if they carry the handguard. One thing's for sure - no way I will spend $600+ on a Briley one...

I actually don't need the full handguard in mlok. I love the feel of the existing forend with the grippiness of the checkering and such. It is almost sandpaperish the grip on that thing. This is why I love the US Mod2 version - it's not full of MLOK slots, just has enough in the front to exactly do what you have - put a picatinny at the end to mount a flashlight and maybe a tape switch somewhere. Even if they sold the US one separately - as long as the price is decent, I'll spring for it. Would prefer the official Beretta one anyway, since I won't have to worry about fitment issues or strange weirdness in installing like my Truckee (instructions were horrible and I scratched up my M4 in several places).

I like that the Midwest one comes with a picatinny piece. I just wish I could find a light with a tapeswitch that was natively MLOK, not requiring a 1913 rail.

I honestly love the feel of the 1301 over my M4, and it's not just the weight difference. The ergonomics of the gun, natural LOP, and the pro lifter is superb. If my shoulder wasn't shot, I'd rave even more!

Congrats on the wedding🙏

Agreed, the Mod 2 handguard has all the Mlok I need, I'm not really keen on the swiss cheese handguards.

With the Baldr Pro you wouldn't need a tape switch, unless you wanted to go that route.

They fitment was excellent & easy to do.

I am more than happy with the Beretta 1301T.

thegazelle, you can always put the kickoff system on the 1301T to help with your shoulder.

Thanks 1ABNDT. As always you are super helpful and have been since literally the first day I was on CGN. You are definitely one of the good guys.

Baldr Pro...I never considered Olight - I use Streamlight myself and just got used to it. I can't afford Surefire (at least I feel like I may be overpaying) - with the tape switch, that's just what I am accustomed to using. Will check out Olight.

I noticed there may be some cheaper options - looks like barrel clamps with MLOK slot (1) available to connect to some tube extensions. Not sure what is available/legal in Canada but that may be an option rather than replacing the whole handguard, which I'd rather not do.

Swiss cheese handguards...lol...

It is interesting you mention that - I didn't think kick off system was available as an option for the 1301 Tactical unless it's a Comp model, OR it comes with other models. I would have paid extra for an integrated kick off system - a 40% recoil reduction is quite compelling to this old body...

YW👍

I went with Olight Baldr Pro as my first handgun firearm light, I didn't want to go to crazy as we can't really "discharge a firearm" at night so it's more of a indoor range training device. But it can be used on a long gun, it also comes with a switch however it (magnetically attaches) to the light.

GG&G out of the USA makes several accessories for the Beretta, & have barrel clamps with mlok mounts if your looking to get the light out further than on the handguard.

The 1301 has a 3" chamber. So, as thegazzelle says, the most the tube can hold is 5 rounds of 3" shells...which probably equates to 6, 2.75" shells. 6+1 if chambered. Ghost loading would be 6+2 and if you want to risk shooting your own foot off, or jamming the gun when you'd need it to work, you could load it that way I suppose? Or, if it's mag capacity you're looking for, just get a pump. It's really not that much slower.
If you permanently plug the mag tube extension to hold 5.9 of 3” shells you may be able to squeeze another 2.75” shell into the total, I’m not a big semi auto shotgun guy so I don’t know if the little bit of extra room achieves this but it’s still legal. 5.9 isn’t a full 6 no matter how hard a CO or RO wants it to be, add one in the chamber and one on the lifter and you potentially have 9 2.75” shells.

Yep. The OP had asked why the mag tube and forend is shorter on Canadian versions. The reason is our mag capacity limits. Or, said another way, the mag tube is shorter on Canadian versions, because it's only intended to hold 5 rounds due the the fact that the shotgun is semi auto.:)

The hollow crevice in the stock where the kick-off device is installed, perhaps sticking some form of weight in there may also help recoil reduction. One might be able to stuff a pound of metal rod (wrapped in foam or something) into that crevice. I have seen this done on other rifle stocks to help mitigate recoil. It may improve balance as well.

Recent vid of kick-off being installed into a 1301T stock.
Apparently LOP is increased by 1.5".

That stinks. Existing 13" LOP is perfect for me. 1.5" added will be like my Supernova, and just a bit too unwieldy for my small frame and short arms.

It's a sticking point for that member. He always poo-poo's on semi auto's claiming they can only hold 5 rounds.
I was pointing out the fact that five 3" shells equals six 2 3/4's plus you get one on the lifter and one chambered.
I do agree with him that such limits on semis over pump shotguns is just dumb.
