IMO Shotgun cards are much better than fixed shell carriers. You can carry a few and simply switch an empty one for a full one.

No permanent mod or screws and stuff, simply some good old 3m velcro.
 
It’s odd how this sticks out, I thought perhaps it was the angle, but saw other pictures online, and indeed it does stick out. Some other Mesa sidle saddle (Benelli, etc) don’t stick out.

Shotgun cards were recommended for the 1301 in this video (see around the 4:30 point). I’ve ordered from Esstac before and didn’t have any issues with shipping.

Also doing cards on my 1301. Bought a dozen 6 round cards on Amazon and 3M velcro from Canadian Tire. Keep a card on the receiver and the butt stock. Brilliant and cheap.
