Beretta 1301 tactical gen 1 vs gen 2

A gen 2 competition still has the gen 1 release on them. I didn't say they couldn't do it I said they didn't do it. And a Comp Pro is not a not the same as a competition. I have a gen 2 comp and it does dump the shells if you bump it and as I have said repeatedly the fix is the bolt shroud from stoeger

Like I said a Gen2 comp is now known as the Comp Pro and has the Gen2 bolt release. You have a Gen1 comp and thats why you have a rocker style bolt release that requires the protector to stop accidental bumps.

I have a GEN 2 Tactical and the same bolt release is on the comp pro (aka) gen2 comp.

The Gen 2 Competition and the Competition Pro are two different guns.
The Gen 2 Comp has the original bolt release that can be bumped accidentally to release another shell that'll jam it.
The Gen 2 Comp is otherwise easy to tell apart from the Gen 1 Comp by looking at the location of the serial number, which is moved farther back towards the trigger guard.
Edit to add: dogzilla's picture in post #21 is correct.

What year did this supposed Gen2 comp come out as you say, I'm only familiar of the Gen 1 comp. (Black)

The only Gen2 comp that I'm familiar with is the Comp Pro (Blue)

I don't know when they changed to the Gen 2 Comp but if you search the net you'll see the two models. As I said, the serial number has been moved back on the Gen 2 to allow for opening the loading port more for anyone wanting to do so. And the bolt release is the same as a Gen 1.
I have the Gen 2, the same as dogzilla showed a picture of.

The Comp Pro has a blue receiver as you said while the Gen 2 Comp is black.

The competition is different. Same reason barrels don’t interchange. I have a competition and while yes it will do it, I don’t see it happening by accident. It would take a pretty good bump against something to get it to happen. If it worries you it’s a 2 minute fix

It happens to me practicing quad loading. And I can fix it no problems but not something you want to be doing on the clock.
The 1301 gen 2 comp came out in 2018
The 1301 comp pro came out in 2019

Stoeger hasn't had the shroud in stock lately. I just looked now and it is though. Penny shy of free shipping. Guess I'll get a choke too. Haha

Not sure if this is the best place to post this but since this is a Beretta 1301 Tactical thread I figure the people here might be interested to know that Barton's Big Country is showing 3 in stock.

Here is a comparison photo of the Gen 2 (top) Gen1 (bottom)

Gen 2 moved the serial number and other features but same bolt release (not my photo)

It can be clearly seen that the bottom gun in the top picture has had the loading port opened up a lot which is one reason the Gen 2 has a relocated serial number.

Ya I saw that a few days ago. Not interested in FDE though

So I spoke with Beretta USA today and they offer GEN1 replacement bolt releases with GEN2 bolt releases, $100 usd and you have to send your firearm to them. Not exactly sure if Stoeger offers this for their Canadian customers.

Buy A Benelli M4 and your issues are solved. I was going to get the 1301 and the plastic piston stop made me think otherwise. Sure The M4 is more expensive, but hey a few more bucks gets you a Bullet Proof Shotty LOL.

I would still rather have the 1301, you can reliably fire the 1301 in any hold or position. The M2 will malfunction with a weak grip or poor hold due to the inertia system, also the Beretta doesn't need to be cleaned as often in terms of the operating system. And the 1301 will out cycle that M4 on any given Sunday.

A lot more than few more bucks.

1301T Msrp $1495-$1695 depending on color

M4 Msrp $2590

I never said M2 I said M4 and FYI the M2 is also a work horse can’t compare to the 1301. And that plastic on the charge handles can’t last long. You want quality you have to pay the cost. Just saying lol

Yes I have and I am glad I didn't spend the extra money for nothing, even the friend that allowed me the honor sold it and kept his 1301 Tac.

Let me know when your M4 can do this.
