Just a heads up for anyone who is like me and is sitting on the fence about buying a new Gen 2 Beretta 1301 Tactical. Your procrastination may have just paid off! Al Flaherty's has them on sale right now for $1329 with free shipping. Too good to pass up at that price!

The picture on their website is of a Gen 1 but when I called, they assured me they only had Gen 2 guns in stock and just hadn't gotten around to updating the photo on the website. So with any luck, the gun and the accessories that I just ordered from TacOrd should all be here before the end of next week!

I have a 1301 and it's my go to for most things.

I mounted an Armson OEG red dot on it and drive the guys crazy on the skeet field with it.

They don't understand how I can lead 6 feet with a red dot. but that's the cool thing about the OEG sights.

You can use the OEG technique with any red dot... just tape off the objective and shoot with both eyes open.. right eye sees the dot and left eye sees everything else.

It really is one of the finest platforms, and a personal favorite for a semi. The weight, speed and quality really are hard to beat. Against the full like of Remingtons and Benellis, id take it every time.

I love hearing that! Other than some issues with the Gen 1 design of the bolt release, I have yet to hear a single negative comment about the 1301 platform.

If UPS tracking can be trusted, I should have mine on Wednesday! I can't wait to get it out shooting next weekend. As luck has it, we are already heading out to the inlaws' farm next Saturday. I might have to break it in out in the gopher patch. lol

I don't even think it was a real issue with the Gen1. Just users who didn't want to run the risk. As someone that definitely yammed up my friend's, it was a quick lesson you don't have to learn twice. Haha.

Congrats to anyone who buys.

You will not have the same bolt release sensitivity with the Gen2, different design solid arm pull/push.
( not a rocker ) like the Gen 1.

Just make sure when loading shells into the mag that you positively secure the round, if not the lifter will rise and the shell you didn't positively secure will now be underneath the litter. Just my .02

While the 1301 is my favorite shotgun of that type... I'll tell you the one thing I don't like...

The action is based on a 3 inch but feeds 2.75 inch rounds... that itself is not the problem... but it is the reason for the problem...

There is a bump on the left side of the action to initiate ejection by stopping the rearward travel of the rim, and that bump is just a little too far forward...

As a result... occasionally a round will fail to eject as it gets hung up in the ejector port.

If the bolt went a little further back before ejecting, this problem would not be a problem.

If the ejector port was cleared a little more forward, it would not be a problem.

It works most of the time, but when it fails, that is why.
