Beretta 1301 Tactical or Comp?

Not direct experience with the Beretta but I was in the same boat with the Benelli version- m4 vs m2. I went with the m4 and I love it. However, I'd say go with the comp version for the vent rib and dual bead since you may want to shoot clays. The ghost ring sights are great but not the best for fast moving or airborne targets.

if you’re shooting at anything flying, than the Comp wins hands down.

fyi be careful if you’re buying a 1301 tactical, as most on the market are still fixed choke gen1s.

I got the 24" comp. It's a beauty and eats everything I feed it. The Comp version is build on a 3.5" receiver with the loading port milled out to aid in faster reloading but could use some more relief. The second gen has relocated the serial number (originally located just above the loading port) so that if you wanted even more aggressive work done on the loading port, you could do so. They also have an extended lifter on the gen 2.

I've no probs with the 24" over a 21" barrel.

+1, I have the same gun (gen1) and the barrel length isn’t an issue. The serial number definitely limits port opening on the gen1 but more if your a lefty (IMO).
Great gun, I’d buy a 24” comp again.

Did you decide? Brother in law has the comp, and he loves it. I think he said chokes were expensive though. I’ve shot it a few times, very smooth. Excellent for dusting clays:d
