Hope someone can help me out. I have an opportunity to pick up a beretta 300 for the price of an 870 I don't know anything about the beretta. I would like to use it for waterfowl later this year. Does any one own one of these shotguns. Are they reliable what if anything are their problems any help would be appreciated.

If it is the new A300 Outlander you are asking about...it is basically the same action as the old A300 series shotguns, including the A391, but mated the the new gas system of the A400 series guns. I hate Beretta shotguns but the old style bolt (tilting block) they used is by far one of the most reliable, so I see no reason why the new A300 Outlander would be any different. If the gun fits you go for it...but just know that in the right hands an 870 Wingmaster will leave any and all semi-autos wanting...in the right hands of course! LOL!

If its the older 300 it won't handle steel as it will probably have a fixed full choke , a modified barrel might handle "numbered steel" up to #2 shot but could get bulged on bigger steel ( I saw this happen to my buddy's A301 with modified choke.)

Handled one this weekend, didn't feel right to me. I don't have long arms I'd say average if anything but i would have needed some of the shims for the stock, at least two to have it shoulder properly.

Thanks guys it is an older shotgun about ten years old. I am leaning toward the older wingmaster myself, just needed input from guys who actually handled the beretta. I guess I'll keep looking. Thx again

Ten years old does not sound right. The original A300 dates from the mid-60's to the early-70's IIRC, while the newer A300 Outlander is just a couple of years old.

Any Pics?

I have an A301M in 20ga and LOVE IT !!! You can have the fixed choke machined to accept screw in chokes or just bored out to Imp Cyl or Cyl bore.

I'd jump at a chance to pick up my 20ga's big brother.... just can't find a rifled slug barrel that would seal the deal...
