Is op rod shorter than 30,06 Garand op rod?

Thanks for the input, is this from experience, speculation? All that I can find reading says contrary. I don't have a 30'06 Garand to compare to.

It depends.If it is one of the Italian Tipo 2 7.62mm conversions,the bbl will be approx .5 inch shorter,as will the op rod,stock,and rear handguard.The bbls for these were made up by shortening standard .30-06 Garand bbls and re-chambering/reaming to 7.62mm.I have built 2 of these,so this is factual confirmation.

Otherwise the bbl,op rod and other components will be the standard Garand length. Commercial Garand bbls are available in .308 Win and can be installed on any make of Garand receiver,including a Beretta.

Friend brought over his 30'06 garand. Answer is, yes it is shorter.

Sounds like you have one of the Italian conversions,or atleast a barrel ,op rod and rear handgaurd and stock .
Purple is correct and gave you good advice .
