:p This is the first hunt of the season using my 391 Optima Gold Sporting. The gun is uncleanned since new! It has liberal amounts of BreakFree, specialy after rain! It is one of the early ones with the problematic carrier. Stoeger replaced the trigger group with some arm twisting. Beretta USA and Stoeger were not aware of the carrier problem. The guns has many thou of target loads and many more of dirty hunting loads, sans cleanning!

We shot 24 Canadas and Scotch recovered 22. Two were lost in the woods. Pierre is shooting a now vintage 303 Hunter with aftermarket ports. The load is Kent Faststeel BB in 3 inch. Both guns perform flawlesly on targets loads while shooting sporting targets!

Unfortunately, ducks is not open untill next week! Tomorow, we will shoot some of last week's tournament targets at La Roue with some friends that need practice for hunting!

Best regards,
Henry
More geese this Tuesday:dancingbanana:

Man I envy you guys :) Been thinking about a 391 Sporting for next season. Will wait until Beretta sorts out this carrier problem.

:) There is NO carrier problem this year! It was fixed early last year. Anyone complaining of a feed problem on a new gun has bought some very old stock. I was at the Beretta plant this past june. ALL target 391s are test fired. There were no failures to feed at the factory. ALL 300 series like to be well lubed by BreakFree. I will try to get some internals posted tomorow. I wrote a longterm test on my old 390 Super Sporting. It made it to 27,420 rounds sans cleanning before several stoppage. I sold the gun last fall with maybe over 60K through it. It needed a new recoil spring and two days of cleanning. It is being used today on a duck hunt by the new owner!

Don't wait for the experience, do it now!:runaway:

:p A very wet day for day 2 of goose hunting. We had Pierre with a new Tecnys hunter straight out of the box and not a drop oil. It sounded terrible with all the scrapping. But it performed very well with the Kent 3 Fassteel BB. Vito had a new Stoeger Cammo. He used some Kent Fassteel 2s. The gun performed well, but the load was inappropriate for some of the distances. At one point th wind shifted and we had the geese landing at over 40 + yards. I resorted to some Kent Tungsten 1s to clobber a few long distance crossers. I also managed a two-for-one with the load, dropping stone dead the bird I was aiming for while breaking the wing of the second bird. In the pictures, Pierre is after the second bird.:)

32 birds starting at 7.06 am and in the truck leaving by 8.35am!:dancingbanana: The 391 performed very well and no rust spots tonight!

Scotch th Chesepeake injurd his right rear paw on the first retreive. I had to retire him. We also had a great number of ducks land into our decoys and with the live geese!:runaway:

I can't wait for Saturday morning!

Best regards,
Henry;)

The Beretta keeps on working!:) Checked the gun this afternoon: some mud on the stock and action, no rust anywhere. BreakFree works!

The Chesee is fine now. The best I could figure, he got a straw in between a nail and the fingerpad in his paw. It looked tender. He is on all 4s today! We are looking forward for openning ducks, this saturday am, in the rain!:dancingbanana:

Enjoy the weekend,
Henry;)
