Well it's a great day all of a sudden. I am now a brand new owner of a 96 Beretta .40 cal S & W. All the formalities are finished and I am ready to go play with my new toy.

Just curious if anyone else out there owns one and has any input on this firearm. I take the good with the bad so don't be shy.

I have a Beretta 92F and a Beretta 96D. I dislike the double action only on my 96 but it shoots better than my 92. I believe that's because of the dot on dot sight on my 92F, the 96D has a 3 dot sight (wich I perfer). Although I've always prefered my .40SW over my 9mm. My most accurate shooter is still that Colt Delta Elite 10mm, but the Beretta's fair well. It's all about enjoying them.

Love my 96D. Its an ex police model, and in great shape. I put in an extra power recoil spring, and replaced most other springs just cuz its easy, and installed the Wolff INS trigger spring upgrade, which makes things alot smoother and consistent. Takes some getting used to the long trigger pull, but once you do, I find it pretty good.

Took the pistol out, 96 Double / single action .40 cal S & W Beretta. Pumped out 200 rounds without so much as a hiccup. Tried 165 gr and 180 gr ammo, Blazer, Winchester, and American Eagle loads. Liked the kick of the 180 gr more than the snapiness of the 165 gr rounds.

Doc M emptied a few mags while we were playing with his new toy as well. Doc has alot more experience than I do so he might be able to give a few pointers on what he thought of the piece.
