Hey everyone! I posted a long while back that I was contemplating which .22 to buy, and then posted that I had bought a Beretta Model 89 from Tradex. So, thanks to a busy winter and not being a member of an indoor club yet, I have only had it out to the outdoor range twice (-17 and -7 celcius).
Today was the second time out. The first time I was out, I blamed the misfires I had on the temperature, and then when I cleaned it I found a pin that looked like it was rubbing the slide, and got it properly tapped in. So this time it was going to work like a dream.
Not so. Every time it fired, it locked the hammer back, but a lot of follow-up strikes were very light, almost like it wasn't fully cocked. I found that if I let off the hammer and cocked it again, it would work fine, and the first shot was never a problem. Sometimes even if I pulled the hammer back after it was cocked, that would solve most of the light hits. I am a pistol newbie, so any help would be appreciated! Tried different ammo, and it didn't seem to make much difference.
What should I look at? The pin I mentioned before is still seated. How do you know if you need a new firing pin? Thanks!
