I couldn't find any info here or anywhere else but I want to change my Beretta 96D into something else. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what Taurus or Beretta parts are compatible and what do I need to say turn it into an M9 or whatever. Basically I want anything other than a DAO. I was looking at a Beretta SB with a slightly shorter barrel and frame. Does anyone know if this would fit on a full sized frame? Or if there are a certain number of parts needed to convert the DAO into a DA/SA?
Thanks for any info!

When I had the 96D (DOA) I bought the parts required to convert it into DA/SA but sold the gun before everything was delivered...so it's possible but you won't have a safety or a decocker unless you get a DA/SA slide.

All 92/96 parts are the same basically. I ran a 96L Compact upper on my 92FS.

Taurus parts are different due to safety/decocker location. But barrels should still be the same.

For DAO to DA/DA conversion you will need a new hammer (with DA/SA notch positions), sear, sear pin and spring.

Thanks for all the help and info everyone! I ordered the 4 main parts and so far I received the sear and hammer. Still waiting for the sear spring and pin. It sounds straight forward. When thats all squared away I may end up buying a 9mm barrel for more versatility. The lack of a decocker isn't an issue with me as I wont be carrying it chambered. Its pretty simple to clear the chamber when the situation demands.

Just an update: I bought all the parts as recommended by some more experienced CGNrs, and did the parts swap with a little YouTube help. It was so easy! Thanks everyone! Oh ya- it turned out that the only part I needed was the hammer. There already was a sear, sear spring and sear pin in place. I wonder what was up with that? Its a factory 96D. Spare parts to keep with the pistol I guess.

Cheers!
