Beretta 92 not ejecting - fix?

My Beretta recently started jamming on pretty much every round. It fails to eject the brass or the next round only partially enters the chamber and gets jammed in the breech. I reload so I thought it was just too light a load at first, but even the hotter loads jam. I've only owned this (used) gun for less than a year, and know next to nothing about how these things work (load-pull trigger-BANG... :) that's the extent of my knowledge). Any ideas of what might be wrong, and is this something I can fix myself? Thanks.

First thing I'd check is the extractor. Remove it (lots of videos on doing this) and give it a good cleaning. Clean out the recess in the slide with some solvent and a tooth brush. The crud can really build up in there. Make sure the hook is not damaged, and re-install - a new spring is never a bad idea. Without proper extraction, you can get all manner of problems.

hmmm yeah something must be broken, or the loads aren't hot enough to cycle the slide.

check the extractor, it might be chipped. also check the ejector (it's on the frame, kinda that sticks out, pointing muzzle direction.)

pics would help too :)

then check the LOCKING BLOCK- it may be broken- that's the wedge shaped part UNDER THE BARREL- i've had a couple go on me- according to beretta, it's a CONSUMABLE part

I had my share of FTE issue. In some cases, my load was a little too light and it would fail to feed/stove pipe. The other time I almost wanted to throw this pistol downrange, the slide was gunked up pretty bad. I tried white grease instead of oil. Give your pistol a good cleaning first. If this doesn't work, examine the locking block and extractor and let us know if you see anything wrong.

The locking block is indeed a consumable part. Besides that, it is a very reliable pistol.

Can you cycle dummy rounds by hand? If they feed by hand, but fail when firing, and some portion of them are sticking in the chamber, you may have a bulged chamber.

I've seen it in 96's, but it can happen with 92's.

This may be to simple but when is the last time you cleaned this gun.

My 92 does that when I get carried away shooting and it gets dirty.
