Beretta 92 police issue

OK so range report. The gun is very slick loading and chambering a round. The double action trigger is a little bit heavy compared to my Sig Sauer P226 but it is not horrible. Firing in single action is a treat. Trigger has very little take up and breaks cleanly. Accuracy is on par with my glock 17 and P226. No better and no worse. Sights are a little small but in a combat pistol i can see where this would be desirable. Overall happy.

On to the mags. So the pro mag brand are pinned to 6 rounds. Wish this wasn't the case but i am pretty sure it is. They squat the mags almost exactly where the hole is to view the 10th shot and they didn't leave any room for the follower. I didnt try to stuff more then 5 in the surplus mag but i am hoping it is the full 10 round capacity. Anyway the pro mag ones work fine for now. Didn't have any problems with either those or the surplus one the pistol came with. Only glaring issue is the 6 round capacity.

Here is a couple pics. Was a wet range today. But I had a good time. Brought my father with me and he got to destroy a target with his 1911. at the end it looked like someone emptied 5 rounds of buckshot in it lol

If you got young eyes the 92S at $500 are very good value for all the reasons stated. For more mature eyes I think a gently used 92FS or 92A1 are better buys at the $700 level. For a truck gun, I use the phrase in lieu of a "knockabout range gun", the 92S would be perfect.

I agree fully on this for like 100$ more a used 92fs is the way to go! I l love mine....it eats anything.....and functions flawless after 1000s of rounds

Well I took the beast to the range just now. It went bang every time. Sprayed the brass all over the place, which could be me more than the gun LOL. It shoots low and to the right. I shot 30+ rounds and all the same basic result. As a matter of interest I had a S&W 10-5 that I hadn't tried so it went as well. Shot 6 rounds and all were in the bullseye shooting S/A from a rest. The S&W has had lots of custom work, bull bbl, trigger, sights, etc. I'm tempted to trade this gun on the M9A3 the dealer has.

Low left is on you not the gun. The M9A3 will cost you more but likely not do much more for you than the gun you have.
It will have better sights.

I should have brought a few more pistols (semi-autos) to the range this time. Truth is I haven't been to the range more than 2 times this year so I'm not expecting all that much. And I'm not a good shot at the best of times. Semi-autos cause me trouble at the best of times.
The sights on this gun are not great, as has been pointed out. I guess I'll try them a few more times before I dispose of the gun. Also I shot all hand loads. Tight for time this trip.

I was pretty disappointed with this gun. I decided to give it a cleaning/lube and try it again. I shot 75 rounds in two sessions. I can hit what I aim at with the gun but it took a while. First it was all over the place and half didn't hit the 12x18" target at 10-15 yards. I think I will keep it. I might get a 92FS or G9 as well.

I wouldn't be afraid of the 92S.

I sold 2 or 3 of these when the last bunch came in, I can't shoot them very good my self, but the customers that bought them like them.
I think it is the grips that don't agree with me, but I have never shot a box of ammo out of a 92, I find that a guns works for me or it don't.
I am having troubles holding steady off hand, so need a bag to really test a gun

Probably overlubed it? I remember when I was starting out being pissed why my groups were so poor, but then I found out it was only after I lubed and cleaned the gun, that was the issue.

I don't think it's the guns fault unless you're just not liking the trigger. It takes a bit of practice to get it right.

I was showing a new young lady at the range with her husband last winter my model 19 s-w and she liked the feel of it , 4in so she shot it and first time shooting a handgun, she shot 6 rnds all on the black at about 15yrs, light 38 loads, so no advice to her other than don't listen to us old guys on how to shoot.

For those with the 92S drop a dab of Orange fluorescent paint on the front sight and you will not a huge difference in gaining your front sight alignment.
