The locking block in my Beretta 92FS broke, and now the gun won't come apart. Anybody have any ideas for getting the slide off? Will cutting the guide rod gain me anything? The slide will come forward about a 1/2" then stops. Also any ideas where to get a replacement locking block quickly, providing I can get the damn thing apart.
And we don't need to hear from any Beretta bashers.
Thank you.

Hey there Try pushing down on the broken wing with a small punch (maybe even give it a little tap or two) the action should loosen up even spray some oil in there as well to loosen things up a little. My buddy had problem like this a while back and thats how we got his apart but it depend how bad it is I guess.

By the way beretta pistols are amazing guns and very ###y

Think ghostie had a new locking block posted in the E&E a while back, may still have it.

Can also contact Stoeger Canada - google for tel # (mixed reputation, I have had good experience with them) or order from w.brignoliarmi.com (excellent reputation, have not ordered from them myself).

Are you sure its the locking block? Can you see the loose/broken piece from the top jiggling around inside, or is the barrel and slide just locked together?

I had a similar problem but it was a defective round inside the chamber. Were you firing the pistol when this problem occured?

I'm quite certain it's broken. It jammed back when it tried to eject the empty case, and you could see the crack when you looked down along side the barrel. It looks like the break may be behind the lugs. The lugs on either side were not in line with each other also. I was able to push the lugs down with a small screwdriver and rack the slide back and get the empty case out. But when I turn the slide release to take the slide of, it will slide ahead about a 1/2" and then won't go any further. I might to try to grab the guide rod and pull it ahead and release the pressure on the block and shake the gun a bit while its upside down see what happens.

Good luck man, I know the feeling...like WTF, why my pistol :( There's a company in Italy where I ordered 100% genuine factory beretta parts (forgot the name, but if you want I can dig it up). You can have a NIB locking block shipped to your door; little pricy, paying in Euro's + shipping from Italy I think I paid $25 for the part......total canadian it cost me was $60 I think
