Hi everybody

I’m new to this forum
In 2 weeks time I will go for my PAL.
I am very interested in the Beretta 92fs.
What I know about it now that it is a good reliable and safe gun.
Especially the safety is a big plus for me.
I have not figured out yet the exact model.
There is the standard fs (black) Inox edition and if I am correct also the brigadier edition.
I would like to go shooting in the indoor range, so accuracy, safety, and affordability is where I am looking for.

Could somebody give me heads up on this?
And what would the different models cost?
And or his suggestions?

thx

My first handgun was a 92FS. They are very, very hungry... mind you we were still allowed 15 round mags back then. Other than that, I feel you are making a good choice.

It makes me weep that I was dumb enough to send it down the road.

If you want true affordability start with a .22.

First if all, welcome to CGN, brother.

The 92FS is indeed a well-built and reliable handgun. The two common models are the regular black one, and a shiny Inox version. There are also American and Italian versions of each, so in reality you have 4 guns to choose from. Right now you can buy a black one for +/-$750, and an Inox one for +/-900. Keep in mind that the American-built Inox guns have black controls, which some say affects the overall appearance due to the heavy contrast.

I'm not sure if the Brigadier or Elite models are stil in production, but I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than I will chime in shortly.

There are also the M9 American Army versions with a slightly different look, different shaped curve above the grip and a two dot sit system as opposed to the three dots. If I'm also correct the M9s contain less plastic parts than the 92fs?

I just purchased a 92FS Italian made model!! I LOVE IT! I also purchased a Smith & Wesson 22a with polished slide, it seems to have issues with American Eagle Ammo.....? So I can enjoy the best of both worlds. Unless I want to really blast paper (1911 .45 ACP). You can't go wrong with the Beretta, no matter what model you choose!

I believe it's the other way around. I've been told if you want quality in a beretta, go with the Italian 92fs, not the American M9

This will be my next handgun :D

Take a look at the Taurus copy as well. It has the safety mounted on the frame which some prefer over the slide mounted safety. I believe the safety on the Taurus operates the same as most pistols so equipped. Up is on safe and down is to fire.

Take Care

Thanks you all for your answers.
I will try to find an Italian Beretta I’m not sure about the color.
The inox model looks pretty good, but for the price …….. Don’t know yet.
And it won’t shoot any better than the black model.
Somebody can recommend me a good store in Alberta or an reliable online seller?

thanks again!!!!

There are several supporting vendors based in Alberta who will be able to take care of your needs:

Roger at ShootersChoice is by far the most down-to-earth vendor I've dealt with. In fact, I bought my Inox 92FS from him. I'm not sure if he's got any more in stock, but if you get ahold of him he'll take care of you if he can: http://www.shooterschoice.ca/

There's also TSE in Calgary. I know for a fact that they have at least one black 92FS in stock- I believe they're asking $750 for the gun: http://www.theshootingedge.com/

I've also had good dealing with Moving Target, but I don't know if they're a Beretta distributor: http://www.movingtarget.ca

Do your homework, and you'll find the gun you're looking for at a good price. If at all possible, do your best to support CGN's vendors.

Good luck, brother. Let us know how things work out.

Thanks for your info!!!

I checked their website and indeed they have one there.

Somebody knows the difference between the 92fs and the elite model, they have one as well there????
And if so worth the money?

Every gun is safe if it's used safely.

the Beretta 92 is no safer than any other gun, or less so.
They're all as safe or dangerous as each other, because the users patience, focus and awareness determine that.

Sold my Beretta M9. Great gun, very reliable, I have smaller hands and had a hard time shooting it. My M9 Sold within a week! I agree that the Italian made 92 FS is a great quality pistol, but so is the M9. I never had any problems with it, so unless you have small hands, I am sure you will be very happy with it!

Yes, I do concur.
Even as a newbie I understand that the biggest safety is between the ears.
I am aware of this. And where I am looking for is a gun that fills my needs in this subject. Within the Beretta I hope to find a good safety feature.

Thanks
