Beretta 92. Replace guide rod or not

I would.
I have swapped out the plastic guide rods for steel, on the few pistols I have, that had one (even the Glocks). Seems like a crappy way for the manufactureres to save a buck or two. My buddy bought a brand new CX Storm (.40 S&W) a few years back. The plastic guide rod snapped in less than a hundred rounds. Lesson learned.

There's nothing wrong with the factory guide rod if you want to change it for the sake of changing it then go for it but dont fool yourself into thinking it will change anything other then the amount of money in your bank account.

This.

Thought about swapping it with mine, kind of "kept forgetting" and never got around to it. 3 years and either 2 or 3 thousand rounds later (I kind of forget how many bulk packs of ammo I've run through it), the polymer guide rod looks factory new.

I've shot 92's that have had the rod changed, and there's no noticeable difference shooting (some guys will tell you it "feels" better... I'm sure it does - the placebo effect is a wonderful thing.)
