Hello,

Bought a 92fs 22 slide conversion a short time ago. First time shooting 22lr. I have put about 300 rounds through the barrel. I am experiencing about one stoppage a mag on average. Is this normal for 22? They are mainly failures to feed. The 9mm slide has no issues at all.

So Par for the course with 22lr kits or do I have a Problem?

Which slide conversion did you buy? I heard the cieners were really ####ty but .22 arnt known for being the most reliable ammo around try cci minimags it could just be your ammo choice.

Yeah im thinking ammo choice as well... some HP .22s catch on the ramp, as well as some leadnose I've read do as well...

Best bet is to try a few types see what works best.

But a few out of 300 isnt that bad.

And yeah which kit?

Luke

It is the beretta factory kit. I use CCI 22lr rounds (blue box will post more info when I get home). Gentleman at the shop recommended them because they are higher velocity than the other brands he had. They are FMJs not hollows or lead nose. Doesn't really bother me too much plus I get to practice clearing malfunctions which is good I guess. I will try some other ammo later this week and see what happens. The reason I bought the conversion kit is to practice without blowing a hole in my wallet. Thank you guys for your input. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Just buy a few different boxes of ammo and try them out. .22's always have their favorite ammo.

How's the quality of the Beretta factory kit? price? pics? :D

I'd be ticked if I had one fail to feed out of every mag. That is not typical at all. You should be able to go 15 or 20 mags without any misfeeds. And even then I'd still be tweaking and testing to see if I could reduce that number of misfeeds.

A misfeed should not be related to ammo either. There's simply not that much shape difference between the various .22LR choices.

Things that on a semi auto that can cause misfeeds are the angle and height the rounds are held at by the lips of the magazine. Ensuring there's no razor like burrs on the lips of the mags that the casings or bullets are rubbing against. Ensuring that the magazine fits up properly into the mag well. Especially if a mag adapter insert is used instead of whole separate mags.

From there I'd look at the shape of the ramp that the bullets slide up and how easily and smoothly the case head slips up under the extractor. You should be able to rack the slide slowly or simply drop the slide and the round should chamber as well at any speed.

That hasn't been my experience. When I had a Norinco M93 it would jam almost every mag with Winchester plated ammo but would run 100% with Federal. Bullet profile was pretty similar but Winchester had more wax...guess which ammo I was using? ;)

I'd still consider a gun which jammed from using wax lubed bullets to be too close to the edge for my tastes. I'd want to examine and tinker to find out why and fix it. If it jammed with that waxy Winchester it suggests to me that it wasn't that far from the edge even with the Federal.
