Beretta 92FS guide rod question

I just bought my first handgun, Beretta 92FS inox, and I was wondering if anyone has had any problems with the factory plastic guide rod? Should I upgrade to the steel one or just leave it be?

I'd shoot it as is. My 92FS loves to shoot all day unless I feed it cheap ammo.

Other then the cheap appearance, they function fine. Glock has been using them with captive springs for decades.... If it does bother you, Wolffe makes a nice solid one for around $25.

Unless you plan to torture test your 92, the plastic one should suffice. I agree with Hitzy, it does look cheap. I just picked up a Wolfe guide rod from Brownells because of that.

Congrats on a great first pistol.
Same here plastic guide rod is good to go!
I would however replace the hammer spring with the "D" spring, it makes a big difference in single action/double action pulls.
