Beretta 92FS or 92A1 for IPSC

Because everyone thinks they'll shoot like the best in the world if they get the same firearm (See CZ Shadow - Not that it's a bad pistol either)

Don't worry about what other people run, the 92FS is a capable choice in the right hands. Some think they are "finicky" but so are a lot of other models.

Finicky? 92 is anything but finicky. It's probably the most reliable design out there! It feeds any ammo I put thru it.

At least one world IPSC championship has been won with a Beretta.
 
Finicky? Isn't that basically what the US Army uses as a standard issue pistol?

I don't know #### about competitive shooting but I imagine if it feels good in your hand it would probably be a viable option.

Because that's always based on the best available pistol right?

If that was the case wouldn't everyone have Glocks. Someone on here said they NEVER JAM! :D
 
I don't think you'd have much of a problem using the 92 in IPSC competitions. "Some people" refer to the Beretta as a duty gun, and lean towards the more IPSC purpose designed guns, so they think that the Beretta will just not do.

Check out Ben Stoeger's website (benstoeger.com). This guy is one of the best competition shooters around, and swears by his Beretta. OK, he uses an Elite II, which is not considered a service pistol, but doesn't have any extravagant upgrades over a standard 92.

Not sensitive just don't like false info. I also have Glocks, CZs and had a few M&Ps. Most finicky would have to be CZ because they don't like some bullet profiles being loaded on a long side.

CZ aren't finicky, I feed my friends ANYTHING!!!

See how this can be based on personal experiences??? Probably not, you'll just get mad.
 
It's a good pistol. If you have large hands and can reach the DA pull its fine for IPSC.

Here was mine when I used it, now use a shadow. Competition hammer, Mag release, hammer spring, trigger smoothing etc....

Only thing that broke was a trigger spring. I've had the same part brake on my shadow.

My friends are a little more picky about what I feed them ;) But no false info from me here.

My personal experience is same as anyone's who has experience with them. I have a CZ 75B and a SP-01 both are awesome guns, probably the most ergonomic pistols I've used, but ask anyone who reloads - CZs have short chambers and simply don't like certain bullet profiles. Most people have to load their ammo short; to about 1.10in (some bullets allow longer OAL of course.)

LMAO, whatever floats your boat. I'm not even going to bother. CZ's are ALWAYS finicky and 92FS's are NEVER finicky, got it!

I was trying to share mine too but you're clearly not interested. You have all the experience, what do I know. I've already admitted that you are absolutely correct, that should be the end of it.

As I said the issues are with reloads (factory ammo works fine), but once you feed what CZs like they are very reliable.

Anyways here's my 92SF Inox, I did my BB course with it.

I started IPSC with a 92F. I liked it. I ended up ditching it for a CZ, because in the heat of the moment, I would always end up grabbing the decocking lever, which would mess up my whole run. Just something to think about.
 
I used a 92FS during active service, and had mine changed to single action. The gun is very reliable, and never let me down.

That said, I don't like Production Division because of the double action first shot, but the Beretta would be fine for IPSC. You just need to consider parts availability.
 
Parts avaliability shouldn't be an issue for the beretta if you plan on getting one. (well... at least my gunsmith told me if anything breaks on it, he order me a new parts for repairs)

If you compared the beretta 92 with the CZ Sp01 shadow, you will know why that pistol is winning alot of matches in the production division. Slimmer grips, much lighter trigger, shorter trigger reset, fibre optic insert, and weight for soaking up recoil are some very good reasons to consider this over the 92.

But yes.. as most people have said, just pick a pistol that suits you and your shooting style.

I have a vast collection of 9mm and i honestly can't find one that fits me... im convinced a 1911 is the ONE after a guy at the range let me first a few rounds off his but thats another story (and a different league for ipsc too)
 
I use a Beretta 92A1. I love it so far. Don't think I'll ever ditch it. Oh, and I'm not a large guy with large hands and I still run it fine. It's all confidence in your firearm and your capabilities.
