Beretta 92fs vs. S&W m&p 9mm - which to buy

The INOX is the ###iest 9 mm production gun

I agree with that statement.

If the pistol works that well for you, then you made the right choice. It has certainly served the US military well and the AMU guys like it.

However, a pistol that isn't even 40 years old yet isn't a "classic look". Whether a Beretta or a Glock.

A 1911 is a classic. A Browning High Power is a classic. A Walther PPK is a classic. A S&W K frame is a classic. A Colt SAA is a classic.

But a Beretta or a Glock? Unmistakeable to recognize, perhaps. But not a classic until they have three or four more decades behind them.

I have to disagree about the 92 not being a classic. Its lineage dates back to the 1934 models and maybe before ( not super up on Beretta history!). A gun buff will recognize a Beretta anywhere. Like a 911 Porsche or any Bimmer or Merc.
I agree the Glock needs a bit of seasoning before it can use the "classic" label.

Don't go to beretta 92FS, instead go to Girsan Yavuz 16 (beretta clone) at least 300 bucks cheaper with a steel guide rod ( beretta is plastic).
Google it...
I have the Girsan and I love it. I think the grips are different between the beretta and Girsan.I'd recommend the Girsan because of personal expireance. Great gun for cost!

Okay, we'll have to disagree. The 1911 and BHP, the S&W K frames, the PPK and SAA also can be traced back to earlier models from their inventors/manufacturers that preceeded them, but they aren't classics because of those earlier models.

No way man, a Beretta 92FS is definitely a classic pistol in my mind. It's old school, it's beautiful, it's enduring. There's nothing that says a gun has to be older than 40 years to be a classic.

I've owned both, and a 226 and a 1911. M&P was more ambi, as I'm a lefty. I didn't like the external trigger bar(?) thingy on the right side. Beretta is all metal (aluminium frame). I later moved on to a Sig 226, witch I preferred a LOT MORE to the Beretta.
Beretta got more attention at the club (Silverdale member), but M&P was more ergo. I had the M&P40, and later bought a 9mm barrel, which fit nicely.
If I had to pick one for any upcoming apocalypse (if the PCs win again) it'd probably be a CZ75 or CZ85, or the Sig.

(I've since moved on to half inch revolvers)

Honestly if you're interested in a blued/black 92 I'd go Girsan but there is no imitating an Inox Beretta. The stainless Beretta is awe inspiring. Just like the lines on an Italian sportscar, whether talking black or Inox the Beretta 92 is just dead ###y.
