Beretta 92s surplus

The surplus Berettas are nice guns. However the mag release button on the bottom of the grip is a turn off for me. I would save a couple hundred more and get a decent Beretta FS of the EE instead. There is usually a few up for grabs.
I bought a couple that had been cerakoted.....they are fine looking guns and work really well......mags are a bit more difficult to find, but certain dealers have them as surplus. Or you tube has instructions if you have a dremel and want to add another hole for the heel release.......mine were about $600 with the coating, you can find them a bit cheaper....but like Ebola sez above ^^^^, you can easily get into a more recent and decent model for about $800-900......or go full hog into a Wilson Combat version......
The surplus 92s are fine for the price.
OP, if you're looking for shiny and glossy, look elsewhere.
If you're looking for a 9mm, heavy frame pistol, built to older and IMHO better standards the surplus 92s are a bargain. They function flawlessly with good ammunition, shoot well to point of aim and are well balanced.
Fixating on the bottom mag release?????????? Sorry Ebola no diss intended. The reason the Italians put the release there was mainly because that's what their police were used to from their previous issue sidearm and just one more thing that didn't need training to operate. They will accept any 92S mags, new manufacture or old manufacture. Parts are available.
At around half the price of a new 92F it's a nobrainer. If you're planning on using it for IPSC, then spend more and go for the thumb release 92F.

Got one through a sponsor here for good price. Shoots ok. I just wanted to have it as a complement to my M9A3...
Great for plinking, hard to shoot single hand. As mentioned magazine release at the bottom of the grip, takes some time to get use to it...

From youtube video reviews I've watched, it sounds like a very solid surplus. Little to no issues, affordable, well made - and sounds like IF something needs repair it should be an easy fix or part to source. I'm looking at it as my first pistol, stores around Vancouver have them for $450-$500
