Beretta 92S

I bought one in truly excellent condition from Tenda as well. It’s such a classy, quality firearm and points so naturally that the tiny sights are not as big a factor as expected. On mine I changed out the slippery OEM plastic grips for a set of thin G10 stocks with aggressive checkering, which made the gun sit more solidly in the hand.
 
I can't remember the price I paid but the Beretta P92S is the most accurate and reliable pistol I've owned. It's a lot more accurate than the shooter, sigh....
 
Good,solid pistols,every one I have seen,aside from holster wear, are well liked by their owners...and I like them enough to start collecting Berettas...so be careful,they have a habit of multiplying when you aren't looking...
 
I picked on up off of the EE for under $400. Only shot it once but it was great. I got it as a project gun and am going to teach myself to cerakote on some bike parts and then refinish this.

Probably the mags. He says in the video the mags he bought for the gun did not have the notch for the heel mag release. EVERY Beretta made mag I have has the notch for the heel mag release. He likely bought some after market mags made for the 92f and later models of the 92 Series. I have several Beretta 92 series guns and have never had a jam of any kind. It is pretty rare given the design of the slide.

The 92s was/is a very good Italian service pistol (carried lots, shot less) and for most a decent range plinker. The sights and the heel based mag release has always kept me away but there is no denying the gun works as intended. It would not be the first pistol I bought though. For keeping the zombies off the front porch or range plinking it works/

i got a 92s awhile back- worked for a while, then had a problem with the safety falling"on" needed a new spring in the safety- still did the same thing after 13 shots- relax, this was the old days b4 the 10 shot rule- anyway, also had a problem feeding lrn and semi- wad cutters- i relieved the feed ramp a bit and made the safety non-functional thanks to some Loctite- the red stuff so i can go back if i want to- now, i can just hear all the gu8ys shouting"NEVER DEFEAT THE SAFETY" - well i just spent 600 for the gun and another 100 to have the safety "put right" so i wasn't going to take it back to the same "smith" and i use the term loosely- btw, i shoot left handed and had no problems with the slide locking back- and the mec-gars work for either version"
 
that had to do with the 92s being tested for the us army- kept blowing the locking lugs off the barrel or some such thing- turned out they were using loads that WAY OVER PRESSURE- what would happen is the lugs would shear and the slide would come straight back to the operator's face- of course, according to the army evaluation bureau, it was the gun, not their ammo- yea, right
 
I have a Girsan Regard, which is clone of the 92FS (more or less). I like it.
92 is a full sized pistol. It is large. Small hands beware.
92s eject brass everywhere when dirty (clean the ejector, and spring, and it will usually remedy the problem).
The bottom mag release takes some getting used to (I shot a 92S for some of my range qualifications), probably not ideal if you want to compete with it. Fun to loan to others who have not shot it, and let them try and find the magazine release!
Seems to me the sights are quite low on the 92S.
I think the safety/decocker only operates on the left side on the 92S. Definitely only on one side of the slide.
The safety is on the slide. Some people don't like that.
Oh, and the Beretta 92 family of pistols can bite when racking the slide.

it's a simple matter of replacing the lever with the dual variety- the smith I had replaced it a later version- just drive out the pin, find the retaining spring( you will lose it as it's under pressure)put the spring in first, then the safety lever and drive the new pin in to hold the lever in place- easy peasy
