Last spring I inherited a Beretta A300, this particular one around 40 years old. What I am wondering is what is the value of this shotgun and a guesstimate on how much it would cost to fix it up. I would go to a gunsmith however the closest one to me is 400 KM away. My shotgun knowledge is rather limited but some of the features it has are: a fixed full choke, double bead sights, 12 gauge 3 inch, and a ribbed barrel. Also there is a significant amount of surface rust on the barrel with, what I believe to be bluing, flaking off in some spots and the receiver and stock are heavily scratched with many chips. the most significant being just behind the trigger guard. All of the pictures I have here, plus more, can be found here: http://s527.beta.photobucket.com/user/clarke643/media/Firearms

The first time I took it out to the range this happened after 12 shots:

When I took a further look at the threads they were practically non-existing. Is there any way to re-thread it?

Also what do these markings mean, google wasn't much help.

And a picture of the firearms name:

Kinda realize I'm asking for a lot but I figure I post something on here hoping someone would help me out.

Cheers,
Brandon

The Beretta 300 series were very highly regarded guns and were , for a while, the darling of the sporting clays group. This specimen has seen better days and looks to have been stored in the back of an uncovered pickup truck and as such has little value especially if the magazine tube is stripped which is the only reason I can think of for the tube popping off when fired. The rust could be removed from the barrel an touched up and the aluminum receiver cleaned up painted with Aluma hyde or some such product but it needs to visit a gunsmith to determine why the magazine tube separated. Even repaired this gun would be worth less than $200 due to stock condition.

Thanks for the reply, I guess I need to determine weather I'm going to fix it up or not; probably well lol. Have to say while it did work it is probably one of the nicest shotguns I had a chance to shoot.
