Beretta A400 xplor unico or light, kick off or not

I read on another forum that some guy called Beretta and was told that Beretta will come out with a 20 gauge version of the A400 later this year or early next year.

That has to be the logical next step. I have been advised that the 391 20 gauge has been discontined.

Just picked up an A400 light, without kickoff. Very impressed with the balance. The kickoff would make it tail heavy I believe, but I've never held one with it. It's a light gun, mine weighs in at 6lb 6oz with a 28" barrel. After I swapped the stock drop shim from a 60 to a 65 it fit me like a glove. Can't wait to get out and try it out.

The 391 Sporting in 20 gauge is a very sweet gun.

CB, you must be getting a little too soft these days to use such words to describe a firearm ....:D

Anyway, after debating much (inwardly) over the past few weeks, I finally went and acquired the A400 Xcel (inclusive of blue receiver/flowers, barometer/altimeter etc) depite all my hypocricy!

The balance and handling dynamics kinda stuck in my mind since I had inspected the shotgun for the first time and I wanted a change from solely shooting my breechloading loading guns at clay. I liked the Xplor Unico (and the color) but that model was comparably lighter (with wood stock), however, the synthetic stocked one felt around the same weight as the Xcel.

Figured that it may not be a totally bad decision given the current Le Baron special otherwise it would've been hard to justify a semi-auto purchase given the price point most dealers are offering today.

Overall, I felt the "Body Shop" designed Xcel will be better since the intent is range use only :). We shall see what happens.

A question on the A400 (Xcel)....what's the purpose of the thin aluminum rod, aprox 9in in length that is included with the accessories?

A couple B guns that have were supplied with two plugs. One would limit to one in mag making it a two shooter and two in mag making it a three shooter. I do not have a Beretta or a Benelli manual handy but I think some countries limit shots to two.. I am not sure all Benellis and Berettas come with both plugs anymore.

M12, I haven't seen one myself, but lots of the Canadian stores with A400 Xcels offer them with the Gun Pod, which is what you are talking about.

Has anyone ever seen a 400 with the onboard round counter and computer?

Two of the fellows I shoot with have them. I shot one. Guns are really nice shooting, but I think I do not need the pod. Both fellows have experienced problems with the pods and are waiting for warranty. The ones without the pod have a big ugly plastic grip crown that says "pod goes here". When working the pod does keep track of rounds fired. I think it keeps track even without the battery. Gives outside temp and pressure of last load fired. It may have even more features.
The pod is the one thing that kept me from buying one this year. I hope they get rid of that feature.

I have a 400 excel with ko and new prevail III with same, love them both, anytime you
can reduce recoil nomatter the means it"s a plus.
I also have a 390 20 gauge and an extrema 3.5 both great guns, shooting federal
black cloud 3 inch at ducks and gesse, works fantasticly

Has anyone figured out how to ghost load the A400 xcel yet? I think I had it ghost loaded with the magazine empty (so chamber + loading gate), but when I tried it again with the magazine loaded I couldn't get it ghost loaded (chamber + loading gate + 3 in magazine).

I bought thr a400 light from basspro... They are selling at 1299+tax and the shopkeeper didnt know abt it...when scanned it did come out at that price...

They had a few left last week

Love the gun.., the kickoff is really nice... Dont worry about it being needed or not.... Tink of it as a bonus in that price
