Hello Fellow gun nuts,

I have questions for you guys, im looking to get into skeet and trap shooting and have been talking with someone regarding a beretta BL-6.
It has not been in production for a long time now so im wondering if its a mistake to buy a gun that is discontinued.

Should I buy a newer gun and avoid the shortcomings of an obsolete gun?

I believe the BL line are all the same guns just with different finishes and engravings true or false?

Are BL parts interchangeable with newer guns built today?

Thanks for reading!

Many, many moons ago I had a 12 ga BL-4. I don't know off hand if any of the BL series were made in a Trap or Skeet specific configuration. All the ones I have encountered have been field configured and are quite lightweight for the guage. As a upland hunting gun it handled quite and an easy all day carry. But, used for skeet or trap, one round is enough to let you know its not near suitable for clay games unless you enjoy being beaten to a pulp. Unless you find one specifically marked as a Trap or a Skeet model( if such exist ), they are too light a gun !!!
