Beretta buys Holland and Holland

H&H has long catered to a market that now barely exists, the days of Royalty and the Ultra rich pursuing the blood sports is all but gone so therefore are the days of 6 figure guns . Beretta may provide more global marketing for the brand but I hope they don't stick the H&H label on anything but bespoke guns , perhaps this will be H&H's niche in the Beretta family.

I certainly hope H&H continues with this niche, but if it isn't viable stand alone, it won't be viable as a component of another business. Something will have to change.

There is still a market for best guns, it just isn't in Britain much any more. Think USA, Russia, Saudi Arabia, China......follow the money.

Since David McKay Brown, Westley Richards and Rigby are very successful, each in their own way, I think that the day of first quality bespoke British gunmaking is not yet done.

Could not be more wrong. The very high end is thriving. Several of the very best makers have just retired, (Peter Nelson, Hartman &Weiss, DMB) and have or are closing their very successful shops......diminishing the array of plus $100,000 usd makers significantly. The high end of collectible guns is booming. Lots of room for H&H to thrive under new ownership.

In any event, it beats having them owned by Chanel.

Next, Purdey gets sold to savage ?

( lololol put a floating bolt head on that and show those english fellows what cheep crap really is )

I think if you guys were a little more familiar with the high end offerings from Beretta, like their SO series, proper stewardship of H&H wouldn’t seem like such a stretch.

You know of course that Fiat has owned Ferrari for decades?

Fiat hasn't owned Ferrari for a few years now. (3 or 4?) Ferrari was spun out as a separate company and trades on the NYSE. Fiat sold their shares when it went public.

I bought a few shares a couple years back and it has done quite well. Market cap is 40B. Stock Symbol is RACE

Hollands have long been built on sourced actions im willing to bet beretta will extend on that. I can see a HH stamped ou still bespokely hand finished but cnc made. Similar to the webley n scott hollands only in an ou instesd of a sxs

lol. But I’m pretty sure my point still stands.

Comparisons to car brand plates aside, it is better for the industry overall when one gun company buys another. The decades-long dumpster smolder of successive corporate raider owners of Colt is the best illustration of that. Last word was the CZ was buying whatever shell and trademarks left in West Hartford, CT. It is important that a company understands the return on its investment is not ruled by sales in the next quarter, but customer loyalty into the next decade. Perhaps H&H are handfinishing CNC parts as has been mentioned. I'm not going to insist on inconsistent tolerances. What is still the critical is the human element of grading and selection, fit, feel and finish that make the piece worth big numbers.

Edited to add: https://www.vintageguns.co.uk/magazine/great-expectations The experience of buying a bespoke gun in London.
