Been wanting these two guns for a good long while now and figured since milsurps are pretty much dead, I may as well buy something! Unfortunately I have yet to see a 4566 or a Beretta 92fs Centurion anywhere. Anyone have one or know of their availability/some for sale? What are your opinions on 'em?

I know theres plenty of 4506's and DAO centurion's in .40 but the 4506 is massive and DAO is annoying.

While we're on it, can I take a .40 slide and barrel of a centurion and slap it on a regular 96 thus making it SA/DA?

the 4506 is a double action/single action pistol..... it is not double action only. I have owned a 4566 and it is a great pistol, the only difference between it and a 4506 are 3/4" of barrel.

4566 is the commander version of the 4506, they use the same magazines and have the same grip size. great gun none the less, I had one of the 2 tone lew horton 4566NS specials and it was the sweetest S&W I have owned... and I have owned the 4506/4566/1066/1006 and they where all fun.

lew horton is the biggest S&W dealer/wholesaler in the USA and he gets custom runs of guns from S&W.... mostly he got a lot of two tone models or models with special night sights, basically mixing and matching factory parts.

I see he is also doing special runs of colts as well now... lewhorton.com

Beretta Centurion came in SA/DA and D (DAO) models. (most common are .40 police trade ins)

92 and 96 slides are interchangable but you will need to add/remove parts to the frame if you want to go from SA/DA to DAO or the other way around.
