Purchased a NIB 92FS Brig Inox. Visible imperfection on the slide (left side from the safety to the barrel opening). Dealer could do anything. Stoeger (distributor for Beretta in Canada) switched the slide. Upon close examination/cleaning the new slide is worse. This time the imperfection run along the bevelled edge of the slide down near the muzzle.
The rep basically says that if it was good enough for Beretta to release it is good enough for him. Nothing more to do?
Now, I know that this is a discontinued model, but Beretta should have replacement parts (like a Brig Slide).
Where do I escalate or what else?

what does mean by imperfection? finish, crack or machined mark? If you were told it is a new in box, chance it is not the case. If you feel comfortable, you can always ask for a full refund.

The imperfections are visible and to the touch. Almost looks like either poor machining or "bubbling" if it were poorly chromed. Unfortunately my camera is not good enough to make that distinction - or I would have posted a pic.
According to the rep it will not affect the operation or "safety of the slide"
Bartledan,
I believe that for $1M bucks, Beretta should be standing behind their craftsmanship.

That would be correct 1K or 1G or 1,000. But that is not the point unfortunately!

Ahh yes it's the French translation. Thanks hr
Targa88 the correct term then is 1k . ;)

good thing its the guy from mtl making that comment and not the BCer, back to the beretta.. its probably machine marks or something... definately not a safety concern... but targa has a point... both my HK USP's stainless slide came in flawless, not sure if i was just a very lucky or if that was German QC in action...

targa, try taking the picture at different angles, may help you highlight the area where the machine marks are...

You know, in the gun world, a thousand dollars isn't that much. They are in fact standing behind their craftsmanship (they switched the slide!), but they might not want to stand in front of your unrealistic expectations. If they are turning you down for slide swap # 2, it's because they looked at swapped slide #1, and let out a collective "WTF is wrong with this guy?"

First point: The chrome isn't bubbling. It's an Inox. That's stainless steel you're looking at.

It could be that you're looking at an edge that has been "broken", as in had a sharp edge from machining taken off. It's probably present on every other one, but the owners of those guns don't care/didn't notice.

I saw a picture of what he is talking about on BerettaForum.net. Here it is:

Like Bartledan said, there is no chrome on the pistol, the slide is made of stainless steel.

Here is a different pic from someone else whose problem is slightly worse. If you've got both, I might understand you wanting another switch.

Bartledan, $1000 isnt that much?? In the USA, new Berettas cost $5-600. I would say that gun prices here are astronomical. If you've got that much extra money laying around, I've been wanting a 1911 in .45. Say a Springfield Armory PX9151L?

It's a good thing you don't actually shoot it, or use it in a holster (LOL)
You might actually get some knicks and scratches and then your screwed...
Is this going to be a safe queen, or a firearm you will use?

if yours is the same as the image above...then...

wtf is wrong with the slide?

that is just stupid to ask for a new slide....it is a freakin pistol not a toy!
:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Your kidding right.. There is nothing wrong with that, I was expecting a forging void or something... that is normal marks on a production gun.
Use it and enjoy it.

Minor machine marks like that will be present on almost every gun. I know that even little imperfection can be annoying on something that you view as your prized possession, but unless you are buying a $3000+ custom made Ed Brown or Les Baer, that's just something that you have accept.

In response to the various an sundry comments: 1)not a safe queen - on average 500-1,00 rounds a week; 2)Given that this is a discontinued model -as confirmed by Beretta, I would like to have the best example possible; what I do with it after words is another story; 3)As much I enjoy Beretta pistols and have had a number of them - their customer service is deplorable. 4)the price is irrelevant- it is the quality of the product that I am concerned with. 5)As I had mentioned earlier - the quality of the camera does not do justice to the picture; 6)the description of bubbling was not referring to chrome, since I am aware that this is stainless but rather to the appearance of the surface. End of story.
Slide has been replaced.
