If you had no gas escaping you'd have no ejection either! The brass has to bounce back from the chamber walls, as pressure drops, for extraction.

Cast bullet loads in all of my handguns leave sooty cases in general as well, because they are lower pressure loads to begin with and do not seal tight, save for the tinfoil-thin 44-40
 
That's what you get with blowback bolt system in a carbine rifle. The solution is to use nickel plated ammo as I do in my CX4-40 cal. The nickel finish does not get the burn mark on it like brass and it is easy to wiped it off.
 
As others have stated that sounds normal, my Storm did the same thing. On a positive note it makes identifying your spent brass easier at the range.
