Hey guys I'm looking at a beretta cx4 storm and a few different AR's but am having a hard time deciding which one to go with. I am looking for something around the 1000-1200 mark. And no I don't want to buy both (yet). Any thoughts here?

Do you have an RPAL already or would a converted CX Storm in 9mm or would .40 Cal suit your needs?
The non R version of a CX Storm might be more than your imposed $$ limit, but the extra fun factor does come into play should you go camping and stumble across a quarry filled with rocks.

You would get more results if you asked in the Black Rifles Section.
As for my opinion- although I love the concept of the PCC (pistol calibre carbine), I'd take an AR anyday, but it all waters down to one question: What is your purpose for this firearm? By asking that question, and looking at the strengths of both, you can decide what you need, instead of having 30 different guys try to persaude you into something else.

oops posted in wrong section, Can someone move please?

I have Rpal and probably would not spend the extra to have it converted if I went with the cx4. I will be using either of them for target shooting only. I have looked at the strengths of both and they both seem great to me which is why I am stuck wondering which one to go with.

CX4 can be converted to non-restricted. So, it would me my choice. I'd probably go 40S&W, and then have an NR barrel in 357 sig installed.

Depends what you want it for, I guess. I'd like to take mine out to the gopher patch, which eliminates the AR platform.

What's your target distance that you would like to acheive?
Realistically, any PCC won't be effective past 50 feet, but with some time with the platform, and some quality glass on top, 100 feet could be acheived.
That being said, the 223/5.56 ARs are the workhorse of the chambered ARs. The recoil is more than manageable, and this chambering is reliable to a 100 yards, if not more with, again quality glass, and of course some dedicated range time.

The choice is ultimately yours. And however passionate I am for 223/5.56 ARs, I do see the applications for PCCs. What I like most about PCCs, is that if you put the right amount of thought into your gear, you may be able to use the same mags in your handgun and your PCC.

AR.

The cx4 is really just a huge plastic pistol with a crappy trigger.
Broke mine just cleaning it.

My 9mm AR shoots way nicer... But I remain puzzled as to why I ever bother with PCC's.
They're rifle sized, but shoot pistol boolits... (Isn't that what pistols are for?)
