I just picked up a Beretta Extrema II with KO. Thought it was time for a change. I do a lot of bird hunting, and I really want to get into turkey hunting.

I'd love any input from you guys out there that have an Extrema. Did I make a good choice? How do you like yours....

It's a beautiful gun, I just don't know how anyone could justify spending ~$450 for the KO (recoil reduction) over the non KO version.

The Extrema was my first choice based on the research I did - but couldn't afford it. I am a little envious ... I ended up with a Benelli Super 90 which was pretty short and handy.

Extrema

I love mine, I have hunted waterfowl and shot clay targets for three seasons now and never had a misfeed. The gun shoots where I point it and eats any shells I feed it from trap loads to 3.5"
great gun

Nice gun, very well made, handles all kinds of loads, and a soft shooter. Just not a great gun to carry around all day after grouse or any other upland game. For ducks, geese, turkeys, clay birds you can't beat it. But I wouldn't be carrying it while tramping through the grouse woods. Cheers,

Patrick

I have an Extrema 1 and it is one of the best guns I have ever bought. Its responisble for the demise of phesant, ducks, geese, turkeys, a coyote, and an 11 point buck so far. Its not light, but works great.
In fact, when I see these threads about "what shotgun should I buy" yadda yadda yadda, and people dont want to spend over $1000 etc...I want to say "save up your money and save your time and just buy an Extrema...you are going to want one someday anyway"

Good choice, you should still get a good trade in value for it for when you want to move up to a Super Black Eagle II with Comfortech stock.
:nest:

I don't think that is moving up. The Beretta's are great guns and cycle light loads reliably. They also shoot softer.

I managed to get one of the last Extreema II KO's in the country in realtree camo with the 24" barrel.....LOVE it! I tied the Benelli and the Beretta at the same time, and I found the Benelli tended to jam with light trap loads, and kicked way more with the 3 1/2's.
The Beretta weighs more, and seems longer (the EXII with the 24" is the same length as my 870 with a 26), but eats ANYTHING and kicks less with the heavy loads.

You'll be happy with it....now, look at a Burris "Speed Bead" for it...I played with one on an Extrema and it was very cool

Don't be too envious. The Super 90 is one nice gun. I love my Berettas, but must admit that the Benelli guns are far easier to maintain.

If you don't need a 3 1/2" gun. And I don't, the 3" Urika is a bargain. And it cycles everything.

What a rare find! A Win/64 post that I acually agree with and I feel no urge to make some snide remark or add a dancing banna or cucumber or puke:D

The urika is a fine gun, and in my opinion the most reliable auto ever made.

Did I tell you I bought a Citori?

Oh my gawd! I must have died and went to gun nut hell! I seem to recall in past threads, even the mention of a citori brought out heavy remarks like pig on a stick or was that #### on a canoe paddle? This is like satan finding salvation:runaway:

As far as o/u guns go. I like the citori guns. Hope you give it a fair try.

Are you done yet? :)

Thanks for all that great imput guys :) Looks like I bought myself a great shotgun. Now for one more question... What are the better chokes on the market for turkey hunting, that would fit my Beretta?

The full choke that comes with the gun should be fine. Just pattern it first and make sure it is hitting where it is supposed to.

Yup, just use your full choke. It'll be fine!
The Extreama II is great for turkey as it has the recoil pad. Before i got mine i'd hold my breath before taking a shot with my nova pump with a 3 1/2" turkey load!
Now it's a lot easier to make those shots and not flinch!
