With the brand new Beretta Nano, the Italian outfit best known for its world class shotguns has officially entered the concealed carry world.

The Nano will hit the shelves in early October providing yet another micro compact carry pistol option. In fact, it’s Beretta’s first ever striker-fired handgun, and they were nice enough to give GunsandAmmo.com one of the first looks at what will surely create a big buzz on the market.

The Nano, which will be initially offered in 9mm, is being touted as a modular, ergonomically sound compact that will be comfortable for shooters of all skill levels. The movable, serialized sub-chassis allows the user to easily replace grip frames and disassemble, and the Nano’s sights are user adjustable with a 1.5mm hex wrench. No gunsmith needed.

The initial word on the price will be around $475. Some other important info on the Nano:

* No pulling trigger for disassembly
* Completely snag free design
* Totally ambidextrous
* No external slide lock
* Different frame sizes
* Sub-chassis .40 cal capable
* Frame employs modern thermoplastic technology through the use of fiberglass reinforced technopolymer

Man, these plastic pistols look almost identical one to another....ejectors are similar, trigger safeties, mag release, etc.

All very standard except for the shape of the polymer.

Still, I'll stick with the original.

personally if I was ever allowed to CCW I would have a pistol that if I had to draw on somebody they wouldn't think it was a cap gun.

Just my .02

I like it. It's a IWB or even a pocket CCW pistol, they designed it that way. No protrusions or controls to get snagged, no weird curves that make it wider and harder to conceal then absolutely necessary.

Real beauty of this pistol I think is being able to move with you unseen and unnoticed until the right moment...

Beretta rep was teasing people over at Beretta forum over this gun, I expected something different (something we can use) so was pretty desapointed. Not a fan of the looks, but after watching the video it seems like a good choice for what it was designed for.

If I was going to have a polymer CCW piece, it would be from a company with a track record of building polymer guns that actually work.

Should I ever have to use a gun to defend my life, I won't care if it's ugly...just if it's going to work until I don't need it anymore.

Maybe these things will run, maybe not. Personally, I would not be inclined to carry any new design until I've seen people field them by the thousand and heard back how they're doing after a few years. Beretta's track record with polymers sucks, so even if these were legal here, and even if CCW was legal here...yeah...no.

Honestly range time will give a decent idea how well the gun itself will perform. Brand name means nothing; I've seen sigs, HKs, and glocks fail (not necessarily the gun's fault). Enough that I'm suspicious of any gun until I put several hundred rounds through it to get a clear idea how it'll perform.

Murphy's law applies all man made devices. Especially guns.

What happens when you take a concealed-carry gun, strip it down of all its lubricants until it's bone-dry, then fire 1,000 rounds through it? If it's a Beretta Nano, absolutely nothing.
